I cut off a lot of fan leaf branches with the idea that it would improve nutrient flow to the flowering branches. Only 4 Weeks into Veg and I'm afraid my plant will go into shock or have a much lower yield. Is there anything I can do to make matters less worse? (2nd grow)

If you haven't yet read the GrowGuide I suggest you do. It's packed with lots of essential and handy info from our most experienced growers. The little search button on the top toolbar does just that It's great for finding specific topics If your results are too vague, try an advanced search for 'titles'. That should narrow it down. Read the Posting Guidelines as well so you don't get in trouble! The Library has excellent exhausted threads. There are a lot of goodies in there to study. Explore the forums and read, read, read! There is more here to learn than you could ever imagine... F ![]() All branches make bud friend. I thought about removing some of my lower leaves and branches but they are important for later nodal growth. gg is correct! Putting a fan in there to help develop your stem and leaves is more sensible than pruning for bud growth ![]() Last edited by Fillabong; 11-01-2004 at 03:49 PM..

It is so interesting that in some areas of this site, people advise cutting fan leaves as to increase quality of yield. Others disagree saying it would have to focus on healing when you cut the leaves off. Or won't produce big buds. Some say fan leaves blocking buds reduces yield. But since when do buds absorb light? I thought the leaves did that. Some believe leaving fan leaves on makes bud better. why so much disagreement. There has to be some proof from results or science that explains what is better. I can't see why a plant would chose to put more towards a bud just 'cause u cut some leaves off. If someone can prove that cutting leaves generates more THC and sends it to the buds.. then I'll buy it... otherwise... I'm gunna stick with logic.

bigger plants produce bigger buds. That simple. At least Batty has the right idea. Basslinemilitia andectascylight you might want to go back and check out the Grow Guide. Unstressed plants will develop bigger buds because they aren't putting energy into healing. Need visual proof? Check out some of the outdoor grows. The only time you should trim leaves is because the are dead or nearly so. Try this next time, grow two plants from the same seed stock and trim the fan leaves off one and leave the other alone. Assuming they both turn out female, the untrimmed plant will be bigger, bushier and in the end produce more bud. I'd be willing to put money on the untrimmed plant... Heed the advice Milagro hands out. I've seen more than my share of senior growers that don't trim and produce excellent results, as a byproduct of experience not becasuse they won a popularity contest or disregarded the advice of people that have been doing this for a number of years.
