4' tall and no sex?

No, I'm not talking about the recent transgender beauty contest in Thailand...but there are some similarities.

I grew these from unknown seeds from a Medical Marijuana advocate but they appear to be a hybrid from the leaf size. I planted 4 seeds about 2 months ago, got one male, one female (on the left in the pic) one that had one ball at about 30" so I chopped it, plus the one on the right in the pic which still shows nothing. There are tiny little nubs at the nodes but don't look male or female. The branches on the unknow one seem to be going up at a sharper angle than the female. Is that an indicator?

It's starting to suffer in the small pot but I didn't want to put in a bigger one and have it turn hermie.

The female showed sex about a month ago but has no signs of budding yet. I was told by a local grower it might go "full cycle" meaning it might not flower until August. It should be about 12' tall by then.

Well for sure they got to be mature by now, I'm sure I can see alternating nodes... I guess you are going to have to replant them any how and hope for the best.

About budding naturally check your growing cycle on the chart in this Link, it tells you when flowering starts in your area

There's probably a lot of good reasons to "not" do this, but in my younger outdoor days. We used to bag plants to force flowering.

Very simply put...during long daylight, me and a friend would cover our plants with black garbage bags. Of course you need to be diligent and own a memory. Two things I lack now. But it worked.

I have to admit, the quality wasn't as good as what I grow now. I don't know if it was because of the method or the seed quality. I always assumed it was the seed quality, being back in the 70's with bagseed. But we sure did get high.

I have no doubt these days, that if you don't stay on top of your time cycles you'll have a mess on your hands. All I needed to do was walk out my back door, because I lived in the 'burbs/country at the time.

Someone will probably be along soon with a good reason to 'not' do this. But at that time and age, we didn't have a reason not too, and it did help flower an early grow.

I agree with Cheese and Beener. You should make sure the plants are getting 12 hrs of darkness per day. Trust me, they'll flower

Five feet tall and no sex! Still a neuter.

I checked the map link provided by SteveGreen and as I figured it says start they will start flowering in August. I don't have a way to put them in darkness, they are just too big.

Recently I put some smaller plants under cardboard boxes to force flowering but they got problems with powdery mildew and mold....might not be related.

Growth seems to have slowed down so it looks like they won't be 12' at least but I took a new pic. Check out the sideways growth compared to the first pic from about 2 weeks ago.

The lady is still alive. The neuter got tossed at about 6' height.

The female I had to buy a new pot for and stick it in a wheelbarrow so I don't have to lift it. I'm mobile!

Anyway, growth slowed down a lot but it still looks healthy except for the older leaves are turning yellow and dropping at an alarming rate. They are about 5 months old so maybe this is natural?

It is FINALLY starting to flower. (the map said August 2nd) Should I stil be giving it some nitro now because of the yellowing or just P? Can I keep this thing alive for 6 more weeks?

It sucks up about one gallon of water a day. Should I be soaking it more so I don't water each day? It is probably pretty root-bound by now.

pakalolo boy,

Good to see you out and about.

Keep feeding the N. She needs it now throught the stretch more than ever. Probably another two weeks or so.

The watering is normal, they get thirsty when they're big, even more when they flower. When you water, saturate the soil until you have a 15-20% run-off. Allow the soil to dry well before watering again.

I honestly doubt that the two in the one photo are rootbound, but the third in the wheelbarrow, . I think I'd rather ride a mad bull than try to tackle that replant.
