I want to grow my 4 plants to a height of 30cm and then start to flower them, i wont be topping them as i want one big cola from each of the plants, my question is do i take out the lateral growth that is now starting to appear?

Once the plant reaches sexual maturity you can cut away all the top branches and let a low sucker branch come up to your max height. Result: small bud, not much smoke You could also chop off and root the main stem once it reaches maturity and then flower it immediately. I think your results would be better. You can also train the plant to grow sideways and trim off all the rest of the branches. The result will be a plant that is short and oblong. The main stem will give you OK yields. Unfortunately, there is no way to chemically or photometrically stop the vertical growth of your plant. Can't fight the phenome, so they say ![]() If I were you I'd train them to grow sideways but not train off the main branches. Filler up with branches is what i'd say. Why prune off productive parts of the plant when you dont' have to?

let me start again , i have a maximum growth height of 3 foot (inc a 40cm distance from the light), if im right in thinking that the plant can double or triple in size when flowering then the plant should end up at my maximum growth height? which would mean that i would need to start the flowering process at 30cm (roughly)?, if i were to leave the lateral growth then would i still get that one single cola from each plant?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Removing lateral growth will reduce the overall ability of the plant to produce side buds along with the main cola. Unmolested cannabis will generally produce a single main cola and several smaller lateral or branch colas > max yeild Some folks will tell you that topping the plant will increase the overall yield, in actuality it forces the side colas to become slightly larger but then you don't have a large single main cola, and smaller lateral or side buds. You'll hear both sides of the arguement on it as well. Personally I like my plant unmolested. LST is prolly the best way to maximize unmolested growth because it gives the lateral branches more light to fully develop along with the main cola if done without topping.

![]() | ive grown two plants one where i left the main cola and one where i have topped the one i left grew really tall, the top bud was good but the others were so low they didnt get much light, not a bad result for a plant flowered at 12 inches, i got about 18 grams of some wicked shyt the plant that i topped, i topped 2 times, i pinched off the main growth shoot and when the secondary growth got goin i pinches both of them, now i have 6 massive buds all the same height and a mass of leaves that just soak up the light kinda like my first plant but the cola was gettin everything, now i got 6 of em i think topping makes a better level of growing where everything gets about the same amount of light where as letting it go naturally gives u one massive bud, if ya got plenty of light leave it alone if not start pinchin
