... I like to trim when wet (pre-cut that is - still in pots) all the major fan leaves that are easily accessible, such that the scissors will not damage any bud on the way past. If a the stem of the leaf is unreachable to a pair of fine trimming scissors, I leave it.

When your pant is trimmed of all it's major fan leaves, you can at your own discretion and let it sit in darkness for a while (a day or two). Some people like to do this. Find out why on some other post, but I got a feeling it's to do with resin production.

Next, cut your plant into segments that match the height of your drying area - THIS IS WHERE THE HANGING UPSIDE-DOWN comes in. See, you've cut all the major fan leaves off; all your left with is those 'can't-reach' leaves. Hang them upside-down in a cool dark place with good ventilation. After about two weeks, the plants will have lost (in mine and others experiences) about 75% of their weight - the buds get slightly smaller, revealing the leaf-stems of those unreachable leaves.

So then cut them off. This technique offers two benefits to the connoisseur:

1 the drying process has left unreachable leaf-stems an easy job for trimming scissors; and
2 By hanging your bud upside-down, it never has to be disturbed - there'll be no knocking off of delicate and smokable trichomes and other goodness.

From there, cure it if you want a beautiful smoke akin the the Cuban cigar's affect to the cigar smoker. Reckon that about sums-it-up why it's a good idea to hang upside-down.

Hanging them upside down lets the buds live longer, thus converting more of the chlorophyll into sugars, which makes a much mellower smoke. Anything that makes you cough is just crappy weed, despite popular misconception it doesnt get you any higher, it just makes you cough more. Properly dried bud will have a smooth flavor and a pungent pleasant aroma that lingers unobtrusively like the smell of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. Bud that has been fast dried will have a harsh flavor and a smokey odor that persists in the air like an egg fart in a locker room.

OMFG- This is just too funny

Hope all you knewbies know that this is kfunny. Folks have been khanging plants upside down for kcenturies as a drying method. Herbs, Dried Flowers, MJ, you kname it....
Personally, I think it's done because the stem and lower branches make a nice place to tie a string for hanging. AND its a way to slow dry a plant which is what many folks want from dried plants, flowers dry with petals hanging down and hold their color better. Herbs, are the ksame, they maintain a potency with a slow dry.
With MJ I hang the whole plant because I have the room to do that and it creates a long drying time which I believe adds to the smoothness of the smoke...
Here's another ktip, the cough from smoking, knot enough kcure or too much leaf is the problem.

Well S2 if thats all you needed to know you should have asked long ago. We have these high temperature polymer membranes sitting around the house that you could punch a hole in and stick the roots through that...dump some water in the pot add a bit of retaining string to attach the membrane and done deal. Europa and i use a bunsen burner and shoelaces for a heat source. Once you smoke root enhanced bud you'll never go back.

As for hanging upside down. I like a nice slow cure. We cut the plant at the base hang from there upside down. spread out all the branches and let cure till the fan leaves are just slightly crunchy(5-7 days). cut off the fans and into garbage can size pieces and the first phase of cure begins. If you boiled the roots properly in 2 weeks you will notice golf ball sized hazey sacs on your bud. yeah....right...


In regards to eating. Sometimes it's just cool. I made a batch of ultra strong delta (a plant we grew) choco chip cookies. I ate one and 45 minutes later my girlfriend asked me a question about something and i talked her ear off for 20 minutes. I had cotton mouth and the munchies...the blood vessels in my eyes were even dialated. Sure it wasnt immediate but it was a very smooth long lasting and way fun experience.
