first off, im doing the fresh cut method where you pick a fresh cut bud and soak it for 7 days then dry it out.

i also have the same bud thats been been curing in a glass jar for 2 weeks already. i figure by the time im done water curing the other bud will be close to being done so ill be able to do a side by side experiment to see if this method is worth it or not. i know a lot of people or very hesitant to try water curing, and i was to at first, but i don't like to knock something unless ive actually tried it personaly.

pic 1: fresh cut bud roughly trimed
pic 2: bud soaking in water with weight holding it under water
pic 3: for size comparison when finished

Ooohhh I'm awaiting a good update

Its been so long, I honestly don't remember much...

ahha

funny

hey everyone
dont wanna threadjack but i figured i might as well post my water cure in here as well. i had two small plants that were almost lost to spider mites at the very end and i chopped them a few days early without finishing their flushing. so i figure why not do a larger (read: still less than an ounce lol) water cure than id seen and post results. heres the soppin wet bud at 48ish hours

the water stinks at change out, as i pour the old water down the drain, the stench gets progressively worse the closer it gets to the bottom. the last 8th of the bowl smells delicious however, reminiscent of good snowcap (the plants were purple kushes, but who knows). the new water going into the bowl is warm, no pictures taken because it looks the same.

i added the warm water because of something i read somewhere (probably gc) about it expediting the process. im not too concerned about it being speedy but i just wanted to experiment. update as it progresses, pictures as soon as it looks different.

Good deal!

One thing I belive i did during my cure was to stir the water once every night and then once whenever I remembered... I'm not sure what would be setting in the water to make it smell besides rotting plants, but perhaps some form of gas is stinking up the water. If it stinks up the water, it will stink the bud too...

Good luck!

What about the smell/taste...

Does it smell like bud,or taste like it at all?

still stinky, the oils are crazy now, all over the surface of the water as soon as an exchange is made. i am fearing that the stench may be due to bud surface exposed to air, cause rot or some sort of mold. i am going over the bud to inspect it and will make sure it is more fully submerged. here are some pics

My major concern with water curing is in the trichome loss from all that water changing. How are you changing the water without jarring loose so much of the goodies? Am I crazy to be concerned about that?

day 4
water changed again, fully submerging the bud helped with the bad stink, they are coming along nicely.

the loss of trichromes is a concern for me as well, but i didnt have much of a choice because of the spider mites and other issues with the harvest
