I've been growing for about 15 years, Hydro in my closet (4' X 4') for the last 10. Untill about a year 18 months ago I had always used just any seeds from stuff I got from the street but lately I've been growing Cali Mist and the harvests, this is my third are awesome with snowey trichromes all over the tops. My problem is I can't keep a smoke lit. It works great in a vaporiser but my preference is the rolled variety. Is very frustrating and I usually give up in frustration about half way through and toss it in the ash tray. I flushed the plants for 2 weeks prior to harvest and hung them up to dry yesterday in an air conditioned room. In my last harvest, many of the buds dried for 4 to 5 weeks or longer before being smoked but still would not burn. If I mix in about 50% street brick smoke, I can usually keep it going if nobody Bogarts it too long. Should I be drying it a different way - any suggestions on how to keep it going? Sea Bisquit

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 4-5 weeks or more is a pretty long time for drying. what are you doing after your buds have dried? what are you curing in? fresh dried bud doesn't burn nearly as well as when it is nicely cured for a couple months. some bud doesn't seem to need to cure to burn nice while others it helps a great deal. could that be the problem?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I co-sign pretty much everything Mr. Hyde said, hes right on, but on a side note at my house in the winter (norcal coastal area) the moisture level here is so high it takes a month or so to dry buds pre-cure so 4-5 weeks may not be enough if your humidity levels are crazy high...(like if you dry near your dro setup maybe?) also Ive had a couple of strains that did fine in a bong (or even blunt) but I had trouble with in zags...so who knows.

![]() | Serratedfrond, I've tried grinding it in one of those round plastic grinders but then it seems it's too fine and difficult to draw through but even when I cut it with siscors it won't burn all the way and takes constant relighting - a real bummer. Mr Hyde, I live from harvest to harvest and I usually run out before my next harvest so I don't have the luxury of curing for a long period. I have noticed that it gets to be a better smoke toward the end of my stash (last 2 weeks). I've tried drying in the oven on warm. After drying for a week or so, I turn on the oven, heat it up to warm, turn it off and place the MJ in for about an hour and a half. Although it feels like its really dry and almost turns to complete dust when crushed, it still won't keep burning. Vaporizers and bongs work fine but call me old fassioned, but I like a rolled smoke. Profit, Yep, I'm in one of the southern coastal states and I we do have lots of humidity but I'm drying in an air condioned room so I'm thinking that the humidity should be low.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | he says he wants to be able to roll and smoke a joint. this might start somewhat of a debate, but one of the best ways to judge weed is to roll a joint, and judge: the characteristics of the weed, taste, smell, looks, texture, are all factored in the joint rolling process as well as smoking.

I use a grinder and have no trouble rolling. Here's what I know: 1. if you roll too tight it's hard to get a J going. 2. if you don't dry long enough.... lot's of negatives here. ![]() Drying in a warm dry room is preferable to a cool room. If you have a lot of humidity then maybe you need that A/C to dry the air but if not, then I'd dry differently. Sometimes I grind up bud the day before I'm gonna roll it. Let it dry like that overnight and it's much easier to smoke. ![]() Peace- OD

Dusty / finely ground weed = joints that go out, cuz theres no air pockets to keep em burning.... Try to make your joints a little looser, maybe hand crush some material so its not as finely ground as well as using a grinder... and dont roll them as tight You actually need a little more dampness, so they dont crush into dust... they grind ![]() Last edited by afterburner; 07-07-2007 at 06:36 PM..
