Auto flowering Trichome question
permalink

My auto flowering AK-47's are 65 days old but I'm not sure if thet're ready for harvesting and curing. The instructions when starting them was to let them grow 60-70 days. I inspect the Trichomes each day and they're cloudy but none are Amber in color. I know the rule of thumb is Cloudy to Amber for optimum potency as far as Trichomes are comcerned and am wondering if I should harvest them because they are reaching the 70 day time period or wait until some of the trichomes begin to turn amber color. Any input would be appreciated.

breeder flowering times aren't an exact science. let the trichs tell you when to harvest. i normally wait a few days after seeing first amber trichs.

might help. they mention some plants go from clear to cloudy instead of clear to amber.
if the trichome is cloudy that could be the equivalent of being amber.
cloudy ones turn a dark brown when they're done and alot of people mistake this for amber.
an actual amber trich will be clear with an amber tint.
you might just want to look at how swollen the trichs are, if most are swollen and full looking its probably about time.

this is just things i gathered from that post, you might wanna read it yourself and make your own judgements.
peace

I agree with hyde about the breeder flowering times. They are just a rough guesstimate. Once I starts to get close to the time given by the breeder, I just watch the trichs more closely.

As for the amber... it's kind of a preference. Some like to harvest at partly cloudy, some mostly cloudy, others wait for the amber to start showing. I tend to harvest at mostly cloudy with a chance of amber. (sounds like a fuggin weather forecast)
