Water curing?
permalink

So I'm thinking of trying to water cure some of my harvest in a couple weeks. I've googled and read as much as I can about it, but one thing I'm not seeing is how to store it after it has dried. Should I just place it in a glass jar like air cured bud? If so, after a day or two of line drying near a fan (with hair dryer help if absolutely necessary), will the moisture be completely gone? Seems to me if I put it in a glass jar, it might still need to be burped for a while as the inner moisture works its way out (like normal air drying/curing). Anyone know?

Also, feel free to jump in here with any suggestions I may have overlooked regarding the water curing.

Thanks!

Thanks! I read one of those threads earlier today, but the other 2 were new. I just read through them, but I still don't see anyone mentioning how they store the buds after drying. Did I miss something? Maybe they are so dry after a day that it doesn't matter how they're stored? That seems risky, but I guess no more so than curing in water.

This sounds just fine.

I must not have read your question thoroughly enough.

Okay, I'll burp to play it safe until it definitely looks okay to just lock it up in a jar.

Funny, I never thought I'd be "burping" anything again after my child started eating solid foods. I guess I love my plants so much, I'll "baby" them until the very end.

i have a batch of buds that i couldn't manage to flush so imma give the water cure a spin this week. i'll let you know how it goes. i'm hoping it'll pull some of the unused nutes out and improve my smoke. we'll see.

well i got the water "cure" done. i don't know why it's called a cure since a cure is for the molecularly changing of cannabinoids. should be called a "water flush", imo. anyways, the water was amber for the first couple days and looked better from then on. i didn't notice any smell from the water at all. put them in my drying tub and put a fan on them. they came out dry in the morning and a little tighter packed. buds have the known darker color and look somewhat "swagish". dumped them in a mason jar and gonna put a "real" cure on them. this is what i came up with...

Awesome! What's the purpose of the "real" cure? Do you think it will help bring out any flavor or smell that didn't get flushed away?

Have you tried smoking any yet? If so, was the smell stealthy? That's my main reason for wanting to water cure some.
