Question Flushing ?

My plant was put into flowering on July 12th, as such I did a major flush yesterday as it was the end of the 7th week. The trichs are mostly cloudy with some clear. It is my understanding that they continue to change after you stop giving nutrients and even after it's been chopped down. Is this correct?

Also, as far as the flushing... this is where the confusion comes in. After the initial flush, do I just water as I would reg except without nutrients? Or do I actually do a flush every time I would normally water? I normally water once a week, should I be doing it more often?

it sounds to me like you may have started flushing a bit late...at least, lets just say later then I would have. but it's cool, not everyone does it the same.

I would personally recommend flushing each time you'd normally water her, but I don't think you've even got another 2 weeks. of course I'd need a picture to be able to say for sure...and a pretty damn good one too, but it's mostly about personal preferance anyway. from your desription, some people are already harvesting with the way your trics look now, and don't want to wait until they amber out.

I'd give her another flush before you harvest, but let your soil dry out a bit first before you chop her. so don't flush on the last day, it won't do any good. I don't know your medium or pot size but I'd say at least 2 days before harvest is when you want to flush it last. I personally try to time it as perfectly as possible so I'm harvesting the next time I would actually normally be watering it.

no more nutes. prepare for ugly yellow big fan leaves, if you don't already have it

happy growing

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure since this was my first grow, but knowing the kind of high I like, I was shooting for an end result of around 40% amber and 60% cloudy. A couple of the fan leaves started yellowing a bit, but not to badly yet.

watch and enjoy mate, you're almost there. don't mind those leaves, they've done their job.

got your plans for drying ready? good to look into that too, that an important part of the quality of the smoke and how it burns.

happy harvesting

I agree with Mattdreads on this one. Flush them and then again in 3-4 days. Keep an eye on those trichs - if she's a slow finisher you may have a few weeks to go still and she'll tell you when she's ready. Do you know the strain? Please pass to the right

Ok, little problem here

Okay, ran into a bit of a problem this morning! My light bulb blew on me this morning, and like an idiot, I don't have a back up. So in the interim, I placed a cheapo fluorescent bulb in the grow room just to get some light in there. Now here's the bigger problem, I have two plants in my grow area, one is about 2 weeks behind the other. To my knowledge there are no places around me that sell large watt MH bulbs, so I will more than likely have to order one, which could take up to a week to get here. Will they be ok for that week just using the CFL? I would just harvest, except that I just flushed the larger plant for the first time, and haven't flushed the other plant yet. They smaller plant is loading up with trichs but the buds are still fairly small... any suggestions?

get a new light faster.

crappy situation to be in....I'd personally be frantically searching for a replacement. try to look for even a used one, anything.

there's no commercial lighting store somewhere in the area from you? you'd be better off to drive a couple hours to pick it up and get it in your room faster, then change of light isn't going to make your plants happy. I'd contact the buisiness that will be mailing out your lamp and have them overnight it. jsut offer to pay the extra costs. they almost always work with you if you have a good reason.

just tell them you were in the middle of spraying in a paint booth and the light died. you're spraying a 3 stage system and it's very important to have perfect lighting for spraying the transparent colour ontop of your base colour, because it needs to be perfectly even and you can't see that without strong lighting. you finished the basecoat luckily, but the next morning you went in to hit it with the colour when one of your lights popped...and have just used your last reserve. the base colour only has a window of 72 hours before you have to re-sand the whole car and spray it again in your base colour, waisting hundreds and hundreds of dollars in time and material.

no business, it's just your hobby, that way it doesn't raise any flags as to why someone would be NEEDING lights so immediatly.

or just put as many CFL's as you can in the room, stick it out and hope the plants aren't to effected by the change.

good luck

helpme--Well being 2 plants, I'm wondering how big your light might be, but they do carry up to 400 watt bulbs at home depot and lowes type of places if you have those around you.

Happy Growing

Why is such a big problem to get an HPS bulb?
Any electrical supply store that sells street & security lights will have up to 1k light bulbs.

Thanks, I'll have to check some places out. I tried looking on HomeDepot and Lowe's websites and the largest MH I could find was 70 Watts, but I'll take a drive tonight, maybe instore will have some more options. Keep your fingers crossed for me (well actually my plants).
