Well,fuck.My mother just lost her house to foreclosure and she's moving in with me.She doesnt know I smoke and never found out when i was a kid either.I had to be extremely careful because shes one of the most anti-marijuana people i know.Looks like im gonna have to dry outside.Is there a way to do this?I figure if i just make a standard dry box and cut out regular rectangular holes,cover these with screens and duct tape any and all openings to my box to prevernt pests from getting in i should be alright?Im worried about frosts though...Itll be cold and dry so humidity wont be an issue,i hope that they dont dry too quickly though.Do you guys think this could work?I REALLLLY don't want to lose this crop,andi don't want my mother to know i smoke bud,shes the kind of person thats judgemental about everybody,no matter who it is.Please help me,you guys havent failed before.

well...if you used a decent size box, and buy some of that dense insulation board foam stuff. I'll take a picture of it, I have some here so you know for sure what I'm talking about. and then some of the spray insulation in a bottle. you could build an insulated box.

it'd take me far too much typing to try and explain my ideas. I'll draw it out for you. then we'll use w47b's great foiled light idea with a relatively low wattage. I'm sure you can find a way to hide a cable going outside. be best to have a timer on it as well so it can pulsate, 30 min on 30 min off sort of thing.

how much weed are you drying? I'll draw out my idea. it's a bit of work to put together, but I'm pretty sure it'd work well.

using hellraizers threading idea as well. this box is a combination of a few ideas I've read on this site, and then heavily insulated.

I don't know what your money situation is either, but I think you'll need at least 20 bucks depending on how much of the stuff you already have.

a PC fan
9 volt battery
2 or 3 cans spray insulation
1 or 2 boards of that insulation board
cardboard box big enough to fit 5 to 6 inches of insulation around the inside plus your weed hanging in the middle
light bulb socket for say a 25 watt bulb.
extension cord
foil
long narrow sewing needle
thin rope (like what hellraizer used, I'll post his pictures here when I've got the box drawn out)
duct tape

I'd come clean with her,but not yet.I dont really feel like hearing shit from her about it seeing as her moving in is only a temporary thing,so im trying to keep this ride as smooth as possible.I was also thinking i could dry in my crawlspace its pretty cool under there during the day,and theres a humidity barrier on the floor.Im liking the insulated box idea,one concern however.I think light degrades THC,and if its 30 minute bursts all day,im worried about it affecting the quality of my bud.Maybe i could get those dry heat pads from the drugstore and just replace every few hours to maintain a good temp in there?

IamTheChronic---I'd also inquire how much or how many plants and how big you have that you want to be drying.

Also if it's a temporary thing, maybe she'll be out by the time harvest comes around.

I'd tell her you are doing it, she can't say all that much that you aren't running your life in the right direction, it's you helping her because of foreclosure.

I'd worry about the outside thing, cause of it standing out for either her, or someone else that might have theft in mind.

If you are thinking a box outside, why not clear out half of your bedroom closet and place the box in there. It would be much closer for you to check on, and won't have to worry about someone finding it.

Got to imagine she's not gonna be going thru your closet in your bedroom, if she might, then throw a lock on the door. It's your place, it should then be what you want to do, and don't have to explain it to anybody.

I'd wonder about the money you have for doing something too??

If you got the money, just make a drying box in your closet, and do it all out with fans and a carbon scrubber. Can always use it in the years to come.

If you only got a couple plants, even just the brown paper bags, or a cardboard box I'd think would work fine.

Got any pictures so we can guess an idea for the area and size you'll need. Also when is the projected harvest date??

It kind of comes across as she is coming the same day you plan on harvesting to me. Or have you already been drying inside??

I still say the best option is to tell her. You can lead the way for people opening up about how marijuana helps them, and get more of the anti mj people to get the facts straight.

I think something should work out in the crawlspace for doing it, and much safer than outside.

Yes, thc degrades with light, and heat, so stay away from both of those.

first off, I agree with alley. especially because she's the one relying on you at the moment, there couldn't be a better time to prove that not all stoners are worthless. you're worth enough to help her.

not to mention, if she really doesn't like it...you've got your own place, and she doesn't have to be there if it bothers her that bad. I'm not exactly the best person to ask about dealing with parents though. don't have much contact with mine, and I'm happy with that. the wife says I think a little to easily about telling people to fuck off when they stand in my way, or if I don't agree with something. I'm working on it, don't want my kids to be as big a prick as I was. haha

anyway, sorry I didn't get that box drawn out, ended up going to the parents in law and helping them bring their 10 horses inside to the stalls for the winter. weathers too bad lately to leave them outside anymore. speaking of horrible weather, I'm going to go check my plant.

I'll have that box idea up tonight. and heat pads would work well, plus be safer, but I meant a light buld wrapped in foil so no light comes through.
