To Trim or Not to trim?
permalink

Leaves with trichomes all over it?

Just wondering does it depend on the strain weather you can or can't smoke the leaves? and If possible what strain are you growing? and do you trim just the fan leaf or trim everything and leave just the nugs?

I heard with that you can smoke rhino leaves might be a stupid question but it's something i was wondering.

Thanks in advance

anything with trichs on it is worth keeping.. Smoking it is another question.. The more green matter you smoke - the more green it tastes... And perhaps more harsh it is to the smoker..

.... Usually I remove all fan leaves with no trichs on it for the trash.. Then I collect the larger ones and sweet leaves as I trim.. Then I make hash or cook with it... I just dont enjoy too much leafy matter with my smoke..

But its definitely worth keeping..

i just grew 5 strains, I trim pretty close, but the Nebula were so trichy I left a lot of sweetleaves on. I don't save trim, but I had a big crop, and I made about a lb of moldy outdoor bud into hash oil last fall, more than I will smoke in 5 years I think, LOL, but I did save some Nebula trim for Green Dragon. I'd say personal preference, but leaf is much harsher. Some Nebula leaf pics.

I dont smoke leaf, that tastes terrible. I cook it But thats all personal preference. I know people have rolled joints with my shake and acted like it was awesome stuff Its not that you cant smoke it. Most common stoners do. A lot of outdoor stuff you buy is barely even trimmed. They just take the fan leaves off and sell it, nobody knows what a leaf looks or tastes like except growers... As long as its crystallized its all good. Some strains get a lot more sugar trim than others.

I have done both.

I found when you dry with the leaves it dries a bit slower, maybe more even. For me it is easier to trim earlier tan after it's dry.

As far as smoking leaves, yes.

My Satori strain has some pretty potent leaves. It is not a drop dead high or even long lasting, but it can get you through dry periods. I only noticed the harshness with leaves that are yellow, right in the trash.... the trash a few miles away that is.

My current harvest I have set aside all the triched out and healthy leaves and will try and make some hash.

I don't believe in waste

I usually just use butane, but acetone works well too, have a look at a few guides on how to make bubble hash

p.s make sure you have good ventilation, I passed out the first time I made oil with butane
