![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Me neither. 1K will give you more calyxes thus a bigger cola but thats not what a dense bud is. A dense bud its one that its calyxes are ready to explode with resin, and that depends purely on the strain and the way was grown. 1K from 2' high or a 400 at 6" will give you about the same PAR intensity, so what one can do with a 1K can petty much do with a smaller light, bigger lights meant to cover a bigger area or grow bigger plants. But I bet, you'll find sweeter buds grown under smaller lights than bigger. I have seen buds grown under floros that were hard as a rock after a months cure. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | if you mean dense like the canadian beatsers, its not happening. those are packaged tight, wich makes them appear so much more dense. personally, after its chopped/ grinded up, i cant tell a difference anyway.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | SEED, personally I count density by weight. A 6" bud can be 3 gms or 7 gms, that will be the difference in a tight bud or a fluffy one. And thats how you know how dense are your buds. ![]()

![]() ![]() | Now that they've been drying for almost a week, the do seem pretty tight, but not rock hard. A few things may have happened during flowering that could have affected bud density: When I started them on 12/12, I had them under CFL's for about 3 weeks. Temps were ~85F, I changed to a 150W HPS after that and temps got down to ~72F. I was also experimenting with a 0-30-50 bloom booster and burned them pretty bad, which slowed flower growth until they recovered. I have a 400W HPS and Im sure temps will be fine with the cool tube, maybe Ill give it a run next and see if there's a difference.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Most of my buds are big and fluffy so after a couple days drying I lightly squeeze them and after a month in and out of the jars, they are fairly tight. I do it to keep the buds from completely drying out. I try to slow cure my buds. To date my White Widow was cut 2 months ago and right out of the jar they do not crumble. Keep them out for about 2 hours and you can grind them between your fingers.

![]() ![]() ![]() | It could be my imagination but I've always felt that I got better density when I fed at the absolute highest ppm I could without burning. And that means more light, more CO2, etc all play a role. The more you do that the more the plant can absorb safely and that packs on more weight faster. Of course it's so subjective. Even two identical clones grown side by side under identical conditions can vary surprisingly so it's hard to say for sure on some things. But my bud is better than anyone I know personally and the biggest difference between what I do and what they do is my feeding schedule. I wouldn't admit it to them, but I pretty much just follow AN's calculator to the letter.
