How do you go about getting those 'tight nuggets' that are so compact you have to grind them before you pack a bowl? Just harvested my 1st crop after a long hiatus - everything came out great in my microbox under 150W HPS. The flowers under the bulb were hard as a rock when wet, but now that they've been drying for 3 days they much more loose and fluffy. Are tight nugs more a factor of flowering under a big HPS, or is there a special harvesting technique im not aware of? Thanks for any advice, A204

also I find warmer temps give me fluffier buds as long as you have your light close enough... the power of the light won't really mater.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Obvously theres gonna be a diff if you compare a 150 to a 1000....unless its a very small closet grow the 1000 will prob cook the plants...

1K will give you a bigger plant with a bigger cola but wont make the buds more dense than a smaller light will do. I do agree with the rest, "strain related', and temp/RH fluctuations.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I do believe fully that a 1k will yield denser nugs than a 600. When I had that issue with my 1k lumatek sending out noise I plugged in my magnetic 1k and noticed how much brighter to me the lumatek is. Well I had to pull the 1k magnetic out for another room and replaced it with 2 600’s. It was a dual 600 ballast. The buds are not as big or tight as with the 1k for sure. That’s even more wattage! So I do think it’s the light too. I always thought that the 1k is the best for yield. The light is just more intense. Strain has a lot to do with it too though. I think any strain will be tighter under a 1k than a 150.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If you really want tight buds regardless of the wattage of lights, then you gotta take care of the stretch. If you hit em with gravity and eliminate the 2 wk. flower stretch, then those buds are gonna be TIGHT and not to mention fat and heavy.

![]() I think it would have to do with how close the lights are to the plants too. If a 1000 watter was mounted 10 feet above seedlings and grown out the whole way with that much space in between, they would definitely be fluffier buds. I suppose stretch has a little to do with it too, but these are all just my guesses..... ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | what ^ ^he said ^ ^with the stretch & Gravity additive. I hate fluffy buds. I'd rather feel like I'm smoking some solid, trichrome-packed nuggets than "green fluff with dried hairs" Everytime I used to get fluffy, air buds would be for the same reason (centered around lazyness): -too hot temps -too humid conditions -crappy fertilizers I'm new w/ using Gravity, and the stuff seriously packs the buds in.... like whoa... I'd have no clue about the lighting-issue ![]()
