To chop or not to chop? That is the question...
permalink

Greetings all! This is my first post on the forum and the first thing I would like to do is say Thanks to all of you on here! From reading all of your experiences and wisdom, I have been able to lurk in the shadows and make it to the end of my first grow successfully!

Now for the question at hand... How did I do? I have a scope and see mostly clear to cloudy trics on my buds but no ambers as of yet. She is on her 6 or 7th week of flowering and I'm getting really excited to cut her down! What do you guys think?!

Thanks!

Edit: I forgot to say Welcome to the Garden!!

I think it looks great, but I'd give it a week or two yet. Im leaning more towards 2 weeks though.
Keep checking with your scope, and cut her down when you have 50% amber trics.
Good luck, and nice grow!

I would leave it 8 weeks if you can it would only be in your benifit. but as allready stated if 50% of the trizomes are cloudy then they will dictate the time. some veriaties are earlier than others.

Good luck and let us know how you made out would ya.

Leave her go untill you see a nice amount of Amber...Since this is your first grow and all Don't you at least want to see how powerful your bud can be? I mean, if it's truely a 'couch-lock' buzz and thats not what you want in the end, then only smoke 1/2 of a joint instead of the whole thing

I would say when you see your first sign of amber trich's, you can start to flush.

By the time you finish your 1-2 week flush trich's should be right where you want them.

Although your plants seem like they could use a good flushing now.

Welcome to the garden

Congratulations on making it. I'm just ahead of you in grow time as I'm ending my 2nd one this weekend. Coincidentally, I did the same thing as you, I lurked in the GC all they way through my first grow and didn't join until harvest time. This place is great and you picked the right forum to join IMO.

There is definitely a wide ranging philosophy on flushing though, whether it be duration of the flush, what you flush with, when you flush. So flush you definitely should IMO but you must read and decide and how long and with what to flush (i.e. plain water, water and a clearex type agent, 1/4 strength nutes, etc.).

In fact as a new grower, flushing is one of the things I am still not completely clear on as far as best practices go.

I entirely understand your excitement, OnE51! I would listen to those above, though. I am just taking down my plants now (5 down -4 to go). I think this may be the longest I have gone and it's really interesting hitting the last week or two. The calyxs really swell.

Last grow, I found that the high "matures" as the plant matures. It gets deeper somehow as the trichs become cloudy. f don't particularly like the amber couchlock and my remaining plants -which are Sativa dom- are going into their 10th week and still not showing alot of amber...but there is ALOT of cloudy and they are coming down by Monday. I'm sure they will be -um- explosive.

Also, if you need (or want) to sample, go for a low bud and try to let it dry naturally or in front of a fan or something. The other thing is, you can also cut buds that you think are really finished but leave other branches and buds to continue to grow and/or mature.

Welcome to the Garden! Your plants fit in beautifully.
