i got the 60-100x from radioshack. it works ok, but i can never see enough trichs at one time to really tell whats goin on. that 30x might give you a broader picture so you can more easily count percentages of clear/cloudy/amber

id like a usb microscope...or handheld with a better light. mine is piss poor!

The 60-100x is what I have. I find it works best if I place the sample under a white piece of paper. Better yet if I'm under a cool CFL too

This is an essential tool in your grow box.

thx burndt.
I took a chance and ordered the one in the OP.. The 30X one. Hopefully It will do the job. We shall see. It was like the add said - $5.99 + free shipping.. Pretty sweet deal if it works well enough.

so i bought the 30x...really cool and great range to see many crystals...HOWEVER it doesnt have the depth range to see that well into the crystals to see the cloudiness....so i went and bought the 60-100x and we'll see if that's better

I just picked up one of the 60x - 100x scope from RS. This thing works great. They have gone up to $13 but well worth it! IT's easy to use, great range of focus, and the built in light makes using it really easy. (Though the light could be aimed a little better...) I'm thinking of taking out the light and replacing it with an LED. If you sand the LED you can get a much more even spread of light that will eliminate bright spots and shadows. If I get around to doing it, I'll let you all know how it works.

I just put my digital camera over the eyepiece and this is what I got. I'll hopefully get some better pics when I have some more time...

I've got the OLD one from RS, back when they used stuff made by name brand companies. This one's a Micronta, it's even got a base with a reflector, and 6 plastic slides. I think there's still one like it on Amazon, but it's pricey compared to the current RS model that has the same max magnification.

I used to work at the shack back in college, took home free stuff all the time because some genius couldn't operate it properly and returned it as defective.
