Right time to harvest?
permalink

Hello again friends, thanks for all your help so far!

I have run into a problem, I have ordered a 30x microscope in order to assist me in deciding when to harvest, however i'm not sure if it will arrive on time. I was wondering if there were any exacting methods to deciding when to harvest with the naked eye - or some other easily acquired tool. Thanks!

If you have a digital camera check to see if it has a macro mode, you could use that depending on the camera. Some webcams have macro modes too, worth checking out if you have either. And yeah, like Allglad asked, strain & time will give you a ballpark idea, most breeder specs are fairly accurate.

I agree with both stoney & TH.

I find time frames "fairly" accurate. I find the time depends on many factors, like which seed bank I buy from, which breeder I go with, etc... etc

I mostly consider what my plants look like though. Owning a scope is a major part if not my final factor in harvesting, but I advise any new growers to buy one as soon as a seed pops (if not sooner).

I am six weeks into flowering Master Kush. I believe the breeder's specs say 8 weeks. This is my first grow, however everything seems to be happening much faster than I anticipated. I have been REALLY strapped for cash - thus the microscope coming late issue. Ah well, hindsight is 20/20. One more thing, I wake up one day and her smell went down DRAMATICALLY, I mean it was pungent before but as soon as she began using the remaining energy or whatever in her fan leaves her smell became only a fraction as dank as before. Is this normal or have I made a mistake somehow? It still looks super fire but the smell is becoming nearly non existent. Please tell me good news...

I can sooo relate to the cash issue Rhurac. ..no offense on how I posted about the scope. I mostly mentioned all that for other members that don't consider scopes. I was not try'n to rub your nose in because of not have'n a scope either.

It looks like things will be fine for you.

I agree you maybe get'n used to the nice smells... Donno the binocular trick...it will be neat to find out how to use one.

I've read that when one third of the pistils are red you get more of a high. If you wait longer the effect gets more lethargic like if you wait until 3/4 of the pistils are red. Maybe that'll help since your strapped for cash. Read that in a book published in 2006. Not saying that you cant look close up atthe tri chromes just another option.
