i am trying to seal my pot in some canning jars. do you get them hot then put the bud in or how do you do it with cannabis? i want a vacuum seal so i can keep it. i've always used the little vacuum seal pump thing but i don't have one here. these are cured buds ready to seal.

Nothing special is done. If it's already cured you just close the lid on.

Heating the canning jar is for sterilizing it when putting fruits/vegetables in for long storage.

Your storage enemy is mold. Even dried bud that is being cured you open
the jar once or twice a day to let it breathe. Once that is done just close
it and forget it.

i already did that it's been cured for a while now. I just need to seal it up so i can stick it in a good spot and forget.do i actually let the bud heat up in the jar while the jar is heating up? that won't ruin the bud will it cuz that glass gets really hot

if you do not have a vaccum sealing attachment there is nothing to do. nada.

sterilzation is for food not for pot.

you've taken things as far as they can go then. nothing else can
be done except cleaning the outside with alcohol to remove residual
amounts from the outside of the glass.

if you dont have pump....just make sure the rubber on the flat part of the sealing lid is clean and nothing in between it and the jar when you close.

Fill 3/4 of jar, place flat lid on, then take lid with threads and tighten on slowly...give a quick twist to tighten the lid and you should be fine....the lid will actually pop a lttle when you open it. At some later point get a sealer if you plan to store for awhile

Although I'm just starting to cure a batch now, I experimented with this earlier today. I just turned on the tap, got the water as hot as it would get, filled the jar, let it sit a few moments until the glass was hot, drained it, dried it real quick, filled it and screwed on the lid. It wasn't all that that hot at that point, but I did have to pry the lid off a little later when I went to vent the buds, so there was a slight vacuum.

If you put the jar in a container of really hot (not boiling) water, then fill it quickly and cap it while it's still hot, there will be a slight vacuum created by the air inside contracing as it cools. It won't amount to a lot, but it may be enough. Not having tried this long term, can't say for sure.
