Hi guys

I was very reluctant about signing up dew to being caught but you know what, fu*k the man!

Any way been doing some reading on here from time to time and found a lot of good info.

I germinated a few seeds in late May early June for the hell of it and kept one plant to try my luck.

I have a green thumb for flowers and vegetables so it treated my first plant no different.
I put the germinated seed in Miracle grow potting soil let it grow for about month with regular
watering.

After I got my little girl nice and strong I started to use M-grow in my water once a week
and now the bitch is 7 ft tall!!!

I was surprised at how easy it was to grow and how big she is for such a late start outdoor
plant.

She has been budding for 5-6 weeks now, I don’t keep up with the days really.
So I take a sample a few days ago and the bud smells really nice and is very sticky!!!!

It kicks my ass!! I am so pleased that my first plant is going to be some kick ass weed!!!

I read about waiting to harvest until the Tickhomes start turning amber so I buy a cheap x60 microscope.
My buds aren’t ready yet the tick’s are still clear.

I’m glad because my buds don’t look as full as pic’s I’ve seen on here so I can let them grow.

How often do you guys check the tick’s for color change?

I have read about the 12/12 indoor lighting cycle for budding, at this time of the year where I’m at
it’s getting daylight @ 6:00 AM and dusk @ 7:15 pm.

If I what on a 12/12 cycle it will be the end of October here and I have buds now, how long will
the buds grow before the tick’s turn color?

Sorry for the long first post.

sounds like you got a real monster on your hands!... i beleive when the sun starts going down earlier and earlier the outdoor plants start to preflower then flower... without seing pics of the plant or a trichome ratio, clear-cloudy-amber, itll be hard to say how much longer... i would say when you have 40-60% amber trichome heads would be a good time to cut...... just my ... oh yeah welcome to the garden... hope to see you in chat... PEACE

Hey Countryboy,

Welcome to the Garden, dude! Sounds like some real beginner's luck happening on your first grow. If your plant is that high I am pretty sure you have some sativa-dominant going on, which means that it will probably take longer to flower than indica. Figure on anything from 8-12 weeks.

Buying the 60x scope was smart. I use mine all the time.

As far as checking, well, you can be as obsessive as you want, but I don't think you would have to check more often than every 3-4 days. Also, you have to decide if you want the high to be more cerebral or couchlock. The more amber the trichs, the more couchlock. For myself, I tend to harvest a bit early, when the trichs are mostly cloudy with only 10-20% amber.

I wouldn't worry too much about 12/12. Your plant is outside and it knows what to do. The only concern is frost, and that depends on where you are in the world.

The buds will not grow longer, but the will fill out, swell, and get thick (probably). After awhile the fan leaves will start turning yellow, as the plant eats them for N. Keep checking the trichs, that's the key to know when you are finished.

Good luck... and upload a pic or two. I love looking at 7' plants!

Peace.

I have a photobucket account but I don't won't
pot pic's in that account.

Can I check the ticks on the popcorn down low?
I have cut two samples from the top, one for test smoke
and the other to test my micoscope, it will get smoked tonight

Congrads on your first grow
She sounds beautiful, you can post here by useing the "attach image" button
above when you are writeing out your posts. it looks like an envelope with kinda mountains on it. 14th tool from the left.
Your lady sounds like she still has about 4 weeks to go, how soon is the 1st frost in your area? She could most likely use some "blooming Fertalizers to help fill out those buds.

(and we use the scope to check the color of the "Tric's" not Ticks... )

I'm in the deep south US, first frost has been as late as late Dec early Jan.

Ok I got-ya on the tric's.

Oh ya speeking of ticks I saw what looked just like tick/spider crawling
around in my bud. It was clear/transparent bug of some kind and it's abdomen
was about the same size as the ball on the tric's.

Strang!!!
