Mary Jane Plan A: Your opinion?
permalink

During the next outdoor grow season I hope to accomplish my first successful grow, as I can't actually do it in the house. Unfortunately the only oversight in my planning, until now, has been the drying process. This, apparently, is best done indoors and is a rather smelly process.

The idea is that I'll transport my crops into a closet the average size of a refrigerator and hanging only buds and leaves with trichs upside down. For smell control I am looking at an ozone generator that's made for a fridge and then suppleminting that with ONA gel in the room surrounding it. In the opinion of those who have had a successful harvest, will this be enough to keep the smell away? Also note that the closet will be on an outside wall so will I need to find another method of keeping the smell down?

Ummm ok.

How much are you trying to dry? That will determine what you need. If you have a pound covering it up will not do. You need to eliminate it.

Type in can fan combo into google, get one of the smallest sizes, and use that.

If your trying to hide smell from your parents your not going to get any help here. Its against forum rules.

Simply put I don't need my family and friends coming by everytime they want to smoke and expect me to foot the bill. Half the time they expect me to throw them some when I get a new bag anyway, you could imagine the hassle of them knowing I had a closet full of gigantic buds. Have I entertained your curiosity, or do you still suspect me of being a 12 year old at mommie's house? Lol, just kidding, that's just what popped into my head after reading your reply, thanks for reading though.

The problem is, you do not want your harvest to smell like ONA. You
don't want to thusly be smoking ONA either, as a result.

A closet still needs air circulation and air exchange.

Ozone can be a health hazard too btw.

Thank you, Stoney-Trees. I am well aware of the forum's rules, I've been hiding out here for a while, and besides in my younger days all my grows were foiled by my parents, they just knew somehow, even when I planted outdoors . Now that I have my own spot I'll be working with bagseed at first, from reggie up to fifth-wheel, so I'm planning for atleast a pound, probably more to cover my habit for the better part of the year. I doubt, it being my first time, that I'll hit my mark but I've surprised myself before. And the idea was to have ONA in the surrounding area so that it catches what the ozone doesn't.

if smell is a problem, i used one of those fans that co in the window and put it on exaust so it blows outside, it therefore creates lowpressure in the room so the smell cannot escape out of the room because only air can come in the from the house and the smell goes out the window. Works great for me

Ya its seriously amazing how little respect people have for growing. Zero appreciation for the psychological and financial pain and risk that all undercover growers deal with.

instead of appreciating the opportunity to admire the world's most wonderful plant, they see your plants and start acting like theyve got a brand new unlimited supply

thats why the only person who knows about my grow has just as much appreciation for it as I do. He got me a 400W HPS and I agreed to smoke him out if I had anything to smoke... which is what ive always done in the past anyway

and ill be happy to throw him extra if I have extra. but ill be god damned if anyone is gonna smoke me dry when im the only one dealing with the risk and trauma of growing.

sorry i didnt expect such a long and off-topic post but its just something i need to rant about.

I hear ya, guys! Got a problem with this m'self. Got a couple of "friends" that won't speak to me any more cause I refuse to give away the fruits of my hard, stressful, and expensive labor to them any longer. Last year I gave away more than what we used ourselves and ended up running short. Did anyone take pity and share with me??? Nooooo. That sharing thing goes both ways so I just took my marbles and went home and now nobody wants to play any more. <sigh> Fook em!

So back on topic: I use and really like the can carbon filters/fans. Works very well. Now if this isn't an option, and if you are just masking the odor from drying inside your house when people come over, you can start cooking up a batch of onions and garlic. Don't turn your stove exhaust on. Do this a few minutes before they arrive and the smell will permeate your abode. Frying bacon works good too. The strongest odors will be in the first few days of drying so try to keep people out for at least that time period. But if you can't, strong cooking odors do help. Plus you got the makings of a great meal!
