When is indoor harvest time?
permalink

I have gotten good info on growing indoors as this is my first indoor grow. Now for , hopefully, my last question on this topic. When I change my light cycle to 12/12 for the purpose of bringing my plants to flower, how long should they flower, {Bud}, until they are ready? When I grow outdoors I wait until the specified time stated on the info from wherever you buy your seeds. Usually October up here in N.Y. Usually the seed info also tells you how many days you should let them flower, {50-65 in most strains}. I also use a Radio shack microscope to check the trichomes. Should I wait that long indoors, under lights, and will the microscope be as useful indoors as out? Any input would be appreciated!!!

I use my scope as my main indicator for when to harvest.

I see no reason why a scope would be more useful indoors or outdoors. I think scopes are the best tools to help gauge when to harvest.

Depends on the genetics, each plant will have a different optimal harvest date, thats also up to you as the grower and your preference about trichrome maturation...

I ALWAYS go by a microscope, and since I like a really heavy knockout stone, I wait until I see 70 to 80% amber trichomes to harvest.

Allglad, Silent Smoke,
Thank you for your quick reply and great input. I'll be using that microscope and like you, Silent Smoke, I like that knockout punch too so I'll be waiting for those girls to ripen and turn mostly Amber!

Radio shack has the cheapest I know of.

420 scope makes a similar one with a nice led light. They also have a usb adapted scope to save images on your computer. Maybe somebody can come close to revs potm now? lol

Another thing is a binoculars. If you happen to have a pair anyway. They can be used as a scope also, just incase money is tight...Just look through them backwards, and keep your eyes a few inches away. Should be able to see the little trichomes very easily.

Enjoy the grow. It can be down right addicting.

Good morning,

I've used "Google" to search for info on all the genetics i've either grown or going to grow to find out harvest dates, general info of strain from the aspects of different breeders because i'm not sure which breeder may have originally created the particular starins I have.. Most of the info from the different breeders all say about the same as far as harvest dates go. So, going by that little bit of research I figure out where my Ladies will be beginning planning an 8 week flower and adapting once getting to the eight week mark.
The last harvest (yesterday) went 10 weeks w/ a 2 day flush and a couple of harvests prior went 14 weeks due to waiting for the ripening of seed. Which I feel went way too long but, having gotten lots O seed for personal stock i'm not going to complain too much. More so, i'm not even going to rant because (5) of those (f1 Trainwreck crossed w/ KGB & AK47) seeds from those plants (that hermied due to light leak) are now flowering displaying 100% Female now beginning there third week of 12/12 in my Cab.

Have a Great day & Good luck

I went to 2 Radio Shacks around here and couldn't find the cheapie microscope. But, I went to Hobby Lobby and got a nice microscope for $100. May be a little more than you want to spend but my buds were more important than the money at the time

Yeah, not all stores carry it, that's why I recommend you check the part of their website that says "...find it near you."
