| This may be a stupid question, but now that some plants are going really well, I am confronted with where I am going to dry them. How much ganja-smell is produced when these babies start to dry out? Where they are growing they are safe, but too much aroma could be a problem. Stay Mellow | ||

| The first 72 hours of drying lead to the most 'wet' smell and is the most difficult to deal with. However this is only a bit stronger a smell than just before harvest so don't panic. It is fine to put them one place for the first 72 hours and then move them if necessary. They dry to a smooth smoke via dark conditions and low humidity. Depending upon the ambient air temp they should take 7-10 days to be completely dry. They are properly dry when the stems on the buds break under moderate pressure. | ||

| I posted this before. Maybe you'll find an idea here. Here is an idea for anyone. When I dry quickly I use a dehumidfier. I bought a used one at Goodwill for about $15.00. I works great. I have built a box that has 4 old window screen racks. It can hold quite a bit at one time. The dehumidifier mates up to the drying box. I installed some large louvers at the end opposite of the dehumidifier. The ultra dry dehumidified air moves around the box at will. Now you have to be careful with it, because it will dry the buds in about 4-5 hours. If you use this method you can dry the buds so fast that the are harsh and very brittle. No good at all. I let it run for 30-40 minutes at a time and check the buds. I find that removing the bulk of the moisture quickly prevents molding. I can cure the buds by using the dehumidifer when needed. The quick burst of dry air really accelerates the drying process. I let the moisture from the stems wick into the buds for several days. I repeat the dry air as I need it. I might run the dehumidifier for a total of two hours at best. I saw this method being used by Dutch growers. I take a pinch every day and do a bong hit to check for the quality of the cure. When I am wacked it's cured, and so am I. It takes me about 10 days to get a good cure. Then it's packed for storage in my old college fridge at about 35 degress. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!ZZZZZZZ | ||
