| When my dads friends wants to dry trees for firewood he pulls them out into his pasture and his cows eat all of the leaves off of the trees, so then the tree tries to produce more leaves but seeing that it isnt in the ground anymore it cant get anymore water so it drys out. I wonder if you took the leaves off of the weed and let it dry if it would dry better because it would try to grow new ones. | ||

| Um, well, I have always heard that the best way to dry your stash is to pick almost all the leaves off, and just leave the buds on when you are drying. That way, any THC in the stalks held in the moisture runs out to the tips of the buds. Thats why you hang the plant upside down, so that all the buds are at the lowest point of the plant. I don't speak from personal experience, but the guy I got my seeds from, who grows large crops, swears by this method. His stuff always smokes smooth and hits hard, so I'm gonna follow his advice. I take most of the leaves off and it always turns out great. I left the leaves on my last harvest and it didn't seem as strong. Most of the variables stayed the same, so I am going to stick with removing the leaves... | ||

umm in some of the books Ive read on plant and MJ growing they are pretty explicit about the lack of fluid movement in the plant after its harvested ... the main reason to hang upside down is the asthetic appeal of the shape made by the leaves closing around the buds ... these also keep the moisture in and prolong the drying process ... hanging also alows nice airflow preventing mold .. kinda need a balance between drying too quick and allowing too much moisture to attract yucky goobly growth... some people use drying trays ... you just need to be more careful to rotate them and again watch out for mold ... drying isnt just about removing moisture its about enabling the conversion process to thc .. a quick dry doesnt do this as effectively which I read as meaning that you dont get as much of a buzz from your plant ... ... Ive never seen a plant removed from soil and hung in the dark grow new leaves ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I've got to disagree with you, lurkapup. I've dried MJ both hung upside down and right side up (after trimming all the leaves, etc). The weed dried right side up had dry, crunchy buds while the stems were still wet and moist. The upside down ones dried stem to bud, with the buds drying last. Since we generally want the plants to take their time drying, I only dry upside down now. Hope this helps.

![]() | giggle .. where did you get the idea of drying right side up? in fact how did you ... ![]() umm I was pretty much just quoting from the reference material when I talked about the drying frames .. I meant laying the bud down .. rather than drying upright .. ok I still cant work out how you did that .. spose you could do it in like flower vases ![]() I kinda thought we were saying the same things .. the leaves curl around the bud and slow down the drying process ... I guess I wasnt very clear though ![]() mm if you end up with crispy bud and soggy stems I guess the whole stalk crack test is out the window ![]() hey everyone (just saw countries post) I dont advocate cutting the leaves off the plant to dry!! (feel like Im getting a bad rap here )
