ok so i should wait till the pistils are about 75% brown until i pick them right?? i'm not there yet but will be in about a month. i have just started a 12/12 cycle today (may 1) and i'm wondering if i should keep it under a dark time for 36 b4 introducing it to the 12/12 cycle? i've heard of this. also i see the danc that i buy is in buds (i don't buy small nugs) and i see that there are no leaves on them, but on the pictures i see there are leaves. i've heard of manicuring but have no clue what to do, i am a first time grower and also does it matter if i miss some of the leaves, i think that it will just add a little extra smoke, but will it be more harsh? how do i manicure? and curing, i can put the dried buds in a tupperware container and move around daily for about a month, is this right? please help me out i have posted 4 different posts on all different things i just want to get the most potency out of my bud, and i want to get the most also.

I'm only on my second crop ever so I don't know all that much. Harvest time is a matter of personal preference, early harvest = "cerebral" high and late = all stoney
I clipped all my leaves off at the level of the outside of the bud. I actually smoked my clippings but it would probably be better if you cooked with them or something

Generally your THC content has reached max when about 75% of the pistils have turned.
For more accuracy get a powerful(15x-50x) lens. Look at the trichomes(the sugar). As they ripen the glandular trichomes head swells up like a mushroom. As they mature they go from a milky whitish to clear. Then they start to turn amber. Potency is at its peak when the highest proportion of the glands are clear. They're degrading as they turn amber.
To manicure just remove as much leaf as you can. To cure dry as slowly as possable without mold or anything, then seal them in an airtight, lightproof container. Watch for mold and moisture. Leave the buds sealed for as long as you can stand, as long as 6 or 8 weeks.(Good Luck!!) The buds will increase in potency if done properly and the taste...ummmm

It will take longer than a month. More like two to three, maybe four. I would suggest that since this is your first time, you sould sample a little every week after a month or two until you are satisfied with the results. Have fun
