| Ok, to start I want to describe my grading of oil, based on Moroccan hash grading it goes from #00 to #5.Both 0 grades would be honey. #00 is very thick and very tacky, near clear amber on a paper. Normal green street oil would be about #2 or #3. #5 would be thin green oil. With a little practice you can easily make #0 using this very easy method. No ketone washing with cancerous chemicals or separating flask is needed, purity is based on time soaked. Since most of the cannabinols are in the trichomes on the outside of the plant it makes no sense to soak the weed in a solvent, get all the natural waxes and chlorophylls and crap into the solution then try to wash them out. Better not to get them in the first place. I've been perfecting this method for a while and have had great success with it, made some excellent goop. Let me know how it works for you. Get yourself enough 99% isopropyl to cover your shake. Put the destemmed, deseeded DRY shake and alcohol in a freezer to get good and cold. Fit a strainer in a pail, if you have enough weed a pail with holes in the bottom fit inside another works well. Put the frozen pot in the pail and cover with cold alcohol. Swish it around and keep lifting the strainer, washing the solvent thru the weed, paying attention to the color of the liquid straining out. There may be a little leaf coming through, and a little dirt or dust, hopefully not too much. For #0 oil let it soak till it's a little lighter than the color of ginger ale, depending on the temp, probably less than 5 min. For #1 till a very pale green, about the color of mountain dew. Remember the more dust in it the darker it looks. After a try or two you'll get the hang of it. The darker and greener the oil the more you'll get. When it gets to the color you want take the strainer out and let it drain. Usually I let this drip into another dish so I can continue working while things are still cold. If you have more weed you can wash it in the same alcohol. Watch out how much leaf is left to sit in the alcohol because you don't want the chlorophyll to start leaching out. When you've finished filter it all through coffee filters 2 or 3 times. Don't force it through cause you don't want any fine dirt(at least I don't). Evaporate the solvent off using common sense, with no open flame and lots of ventilation. Be fuc*ing careful, have a cover ready and a fire extinguisher. It's so stupid to burn your house/garage/whatever down when it's so easy to prevent. Also use stainless, when you scrape the oil up you don't want aluminum filings in it. A flat bottomed stainless frying pan works great. When it evaporates down and it's getting shallow in your pan reduce the heat and CAREFULLY swirl it around the bottom of the pan. You'll notice 2 separate thicknesses, one floating across the other. Keep evaporating till it's all one thickness. It's hard to describe when it's finished, experience will help. One way to tell all the solvent is gone is light the oil on a razor blade, if it burns blue easily and runs off the blade burning it still has solvent in it. Note that pure oil will burn also, but it sputters and has a redder flame. If you go too far the oil will dry in the bottom of the pan and be brittle and flaky like paint when you try to scrape it up. A good way to slowly finish it is under a desk lamp. Then enjoy. There's no way to tell how much oil you'll get, it depends on the pot and the grade of oil you make. You can also re-soak the pot in fresh alcohol to make a second batch of lesser grade oil. ![]() | http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabi...emistry2.shtml They say a few drops of this will weaken the heartiest stoner with a 4-5 hour high. Read the last article at this page. It decribes exactly how to turn regular weed into hash, then purify it even more, then isomerize that refined product into 80-99% THC oil. Regular hash/hash oil isn't even close to this. The cool thing about this is that any type of high resin bud can be used. Even if the THC content in the resin is low. If anyone knows how to isomerize THCV or CBD please post a link or explain your process. The Warloc | ||
