hi,

i just harvested my plant a couple days ago. I know that i harvested like a week early but i had to take it down. The problem is that there is no smell whatsoever. I put my nose up to it and smell absolutly nothing. Will this bud have any potency??? is smell a huge factor in the quality of the high?

I have never had plants that did not smell but a friend and I toked on 2g splif with no smell and it did the same as 1g. So i think it might be like half as potent or something?!?!?!?

The only thing you should look for is that rotten undertone, behind the smell; it's GENERALY associated with pottency!

Touch a bit on the steam above the buds, and smell your fingers after ; this what i do when my nose is not getting signs...

Hmmmm.....

My first harvest came up kinda hay-smelling...(guess it was my drying method...)

I hung it upside-down in a nice, dry dark place for 5 days, brown-bagged it for another 5, and put it in a "Tupperware" container.(of course, I was sampling along the way )

Genetics, manicure, method...probably all contributed. But I'll tell ya what...I'm glad I didn't have to pay anything for it, `cuz it probably would have run me @ $200.00!!! Best darned hay around!

Go with what wolfman said. I do the same thing and it always works out for me.

That 'street pot' type smell you might be looking for comes usually with curing over longish periods 2+ weeks. Also, not all strains produce that type of smell. Sometimes growers grow a certain strain becuase it doesn't smell like dope, but it still gets you high (maybe even higher)!

If it any comfort to you, I've been harvesting over the couple of weeks and my dope doesn't smell much. If anything, smells like vegetables or something. That's why I bend the stem above the bud to smell that lovely smell and tell myself I fell better now.
