I'm into day 49 flowering my indica bagseed.I can see that each bud is sugar coated with my naked eye and cheap magnifying glass. Should I hold tight for another week or chop her? The soil is almost dry. Should I water again and then chop?Should the soil be moist or close to dry when I chop? The pistils are near 50/50.I'm afraid to do a taste test.

I'm afraid to do a taste test.

What sort of noob are you? A real man would have taste tested well before now!
(Don't take me too serious, you're doing fine.)

Most peeps harvest too early yield wise, but it also gives more couchlock.
It's amazing how those thingies swell up with an extra two weeks. (Thingies is a technical term if you're not a botanist.)
I grow NL and they get 10 weeks.
Haven't read all this site yet, but if you do a search on "microwave" you'll find a thread by a mod called pontoon who has got early tasting down to a Tee. (Gotta admire a man with a useful skill set.)

Assuming you have a few plants, snip a side bud from the runtiest, and enjoy. If you can spare the runt, make a guess at what is "too long" and stagger the harvest so the runt gets harvested "too late". If you're right, the THC in the runt will be lost. If you're wrong, she'll put you on your back, and then some.
Thing is, you'll never know EXACTLY where the line is until you go half an inch beyond, and that's gonna cost a little yield.
Worth it though.
