![]() | HELP!! A plant was transplanted at about 2 feet tall. It now resides indoors, near a sunlit window. Its surrounding temperature is consistantly between 70 and 74 degrees. It recieves water when the soil on the surface begins to dry. Now, its leaves are beginning to brown and fall off. But there are also new baby leaves beginning to sprout. So....now what?? Does it just grow like a regular plant or will buds appear soon? Its owner has no idea what they are doing, obviously. A little help would be appreciated. Maybe it just needs to be tossed. Thanks TT2

![]() ![]() ![]() | Welcome to HC.com how old it's the plant? did you give fertilizers when transplanted? did you watered roughly when transplanted? you should wait to give water and not judge just for the dry soil on the top, sounds like you're giving much water now, leaves are falling off? are most of the leaves yellow? maybe she was root bounded and just in time to save her, also buds won't show if you don't switch ligght schedule to 12 hours light and 12 hours dark, plant need to have alternating nodes to start flowering. Good luck.

![]() | Sounds like a few things could be a concern here. Do you give it nutrients when watering it? Maybe the pot is too small, transplant to a bigger pot if its bothering you. Check out the nursery for sick plants in my signature, it might solve your problems ![]() Your plant needs to be female to produce buds, to find out wether its male or female you need lights on your plant which you can turn off for 12hours ( so it gets complete darkness) and then 12hours on. After a few days of 12/12 you should see signs of sex. Check out the grow guide to help more ( link in signature ).peAce ![]() | ||

this may be one reason but im not sure, as soon as you siad, "it recieves water when the top surface begins to dry and now theres browning leaves" overwatering is the first thing that comes to mind?

Thanks for the help! This plant was discovered in someone elses backyard. Its age is unknown. It seems to have been left over from previous homeowners. Its leaves are not yellow, they are a nice green. It definitely does not recieve light for 12 hours. It has not been fertilized except for the fresh new soil it is in. Does the sunlight have to be direct? Or is indirect light good enough? It can't be put outside, because it is too cold here. Growing lights are out of the question. Anyhoo, thanks for the input. ![]() ![]() ![]() | direct light it's the key... put her right under the light or at least give as much as you can but direct.
