![]() | Hi all, I have just harvested two females grown outdoors. There is a fair amount of mud/soil over the leaves and buds. Anyone got experience on how to clean the buds with water to remove the mud/soil? I was thinking of gently rinsing under running water. Someone told me that this will knock off the gland heads. I got to clean the buds else the dried soil on the buds will be terrible to smoke.

That was MY first thought! Say, how 'bout one of those small computer vacuums?! Gently rub the soft bristles over the dirt and see if that works.

If you do, try a small spray bottle with a light mist. Then let the water and dirt run off it. I'd think rinsing them under anything stronger than that would probably rob you of some 'goodness'. ![]()

![]() ![]() | I would say dry them out and then once the mud/dirt is all dried try blowing or knocking it off. Just my ![]()

live in very windy place, so i always get some dust picked up off the soil and stuck to my buds ![]() generally i trim it off, ive never had much luck trying to clean it, if you dont have many buds to do then it might be possible to pick the dirt off by hand. i wouldnt want to spray once the plant has been cut, though i have sprayed with water a few days before harvest in good weather, making sure they dried well before harvest. if its really stuck into the buds then you might want to make a big effort, but as i say, i generally trim off the outer leaves getting rid of the worst of it. ![]()

![]() | Thanks JimiC - I have learnt the hard way. There was a lot of dirt on my buds so I tried the mist spary. It did not remove the dirt. So I tried gently washing a few buds under running water. Well, the end result was that I had clean buds - but the buds lost their stickiness. I checked the washed buds under a 30x magnifier and found that they still had a lot of trichomes but quite a few were de-capitated. Not sure if the washing caused it - but defintely the stickiness was greatly reduced. How much of potency have I lost ?? I do not know. Time will tell after I dry and cure. Next time I plan to gently clean the plant before I harvest and hope for better results Will keep everyone posted.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i dont think the trichomes would be washed off just by rain, ive found that spraying does remove some of the dirt, but holy_smoke had to stick them under running water to remove the stickiness. another thing to consider is mold, if theyre already wet IMO its better to leave them til the rain stops and give them a few days to dry out in the breeze. but .. at the end of the day youre the only one that knows how bad the storm is affecting them, so its your choice ![]()
