bud leaves with trichomes yellowing...
permalink

ok - i have been trying to be patient with my latest grow attempt. i have been checking the trichs to go cloudy and with some amber to see the difference from my last harvest when they were mostly cloudy a few clear (i couldnt wait )

well its really close to harvest - been flowering about 11 or 12 weeks - the larger fan leaves etc yellowed and came off as usual. the trichs are still clear and cloudy - i dont seem to see any amber. my concern now is that i noticed that some of the leaves actually within the buds are turning yellow - and these leaves have trichs on them - quite a few

so am i either just overlooking the amber trichs or is something else going on? i am wondering whether i should just go ahead and harvest. yes they may be low on nitrogen or something, but its too close to harvest to use any more nutes

ideas? suggestions? should i stop being patient and harvest now? i dont know, but would assume yellowing of buds/leaves with trichs is probably NOT a good thing?

thanks!!

Relax mate... I've seen buds with almost all the bud leaves were yellow.

Just keep any eye on the trichs... sounds like you'll have a nice tasting, well flushed harvest.

whew - thanks FewBricksShort!

i just didnt recall seeing any posts about this - and while i knew the large leaves did that i didnt really expect the ones in the buds to change...as long as the trichs are there then i guess the color of the leaves doesnt really matter

just want to check on this one - didnt want to let my 'patience' this time end up having me harvest too late for a change

take care

no yellow leaves too soon to harvest
permalink

hi there,in some of my attempts i had a lot of yellow leaves near harvest, this time all leaves are a healthy green but the buds are near being ready(at least i think so)is yellowing always associated with impending ripeness or can they stay green and still be ready for the final cut?

Bud Man, there are lots of different plants I have seen harvested with ALL grean leaves.

Last grow I had almost 80% amber trichs on the bottom buds (top cola was cut a few days before)
the plant was about to start losing potency by the day if I didn't chop it, and the only yellowing I had on her was the 1st few sets of leafs that didn't get enough light.
I think using nutes late into the flowering stage makes it unnecessary for the plant to pull the reserve nutrients out of its fan leaves for it already has more than enough to go around in the soil.
uncertain though, just a logical thought.

yellow leaves in the last stages of flowering shouldn't be worried about.

it's unavoidable with many strains when you are going for mostly amber trichs.

What is the general rule when to stop using nutes when you are going after amber trichs? Because i'm pressuming when you see amber you flip into harvest IMMEDIATLY.
