Trainwreck Harvest Dates???
permalink

I picked up some TW clones from the club last year and put one of them outside to flower. Can't even remember when i harvested but i know it was a bit early. Anyway...I ended up getting about 10 seeds off the whole plant that was decent size. So, this season i put a seedling outside around the beginning of april. The thing is HUGE since I took a couple hundred clippings from it. I was wondering if anyone grows TW outdoors and if they might know the harvest time. I have a nice batch indoors in a nice cool environment and there are some big differences with growing indoor compared to outdoor.

Is the plant flowering yet? If not I don't know if it will finish. Depends on your location I guess. If your down south you may get something good from it. G'luck.

Hey Smokinbudds -

I HAD TrainWreck in my outdoor garden. I had to harvest it early due to my cool/damp/mold producing weather. I've grown it before too. It's an Indica dominant strain and started flowering early in my garden... planted it in April. Chopped it about a week ago.
Is it possilbe to post a pic? Or can you describe what the buds look like? how thick? what color? are the pistils (hairs) starting to dry up?
Need more info pls.
Peace-
Outdoors
And yes, indoors and outdoors are very different growing locations.

Here are some pictures taken about a week ago. I hope they uploaded!
I am just trying to figure out when I should harvest. I am supposed to leave town and I really don't want to leave these things without any supervision. They are starting to smell REALLY good. It has a nice sweet grapefruit smell to it.
I am in California in the central valley. Do you think it will go into october?

Your plant is looking great! I'd say it's early to harvest it now. Can you get yourself a look at the trichomes? Have you sampled it yet?
What's your weather like now? What is expected in the next 2 weeks?
You could take this plant now but if you can wait a bit longer, I'd wait and see.
What are you feeding it? When was the last time you ferted?
Peace-

I am feeding it GH Maxi-bloom. The weather has been warm...about 80 degrees...but it can get hot real quick in the valley. The sample that I took is pretty damn good! Just like the TW I remember...it has a very distinct smell when it is dry....makes me a couch potatoe when I smoke it!
There has been a quite a change just from last week when those pics were taken. All the buds have weighed down the whole plant and all the crystals look like they are little lollipops...A majority of the hairs are all turning amber....it's filled out quite nice. I am still new on the trichomes part......where exactly do i look for them. I have a nice magnifying glass...I know that's a start!
I am sure i could harvest now just by judging by the sample....but i want the maximum out of the plant...who wouldn't?? :-)

Sleepy?

Your TW makes you sleepy? That's a shame... I'm smoking some of the original TW kept alive since the 70s by an older grower I know and it's relaxing but not narcotic.. it's a very nice balance of stress relief without making me drowsy at all... just my .02

I have Trainwreck flowering in my cab right now and i'm waiting for that couchloc amber to overtake the plant... Not quite there yet but, gettin close into my 12th week in flower.
I think it sucks that the outer flowers at the end of the branch mature and have more sugar leaves showing amber then the rest of the stupid branch..
Why can't they be programmed after all these years to ripen and mature at the same time?????
Stupid plants!

Have a Great day
don

p.S. i'm doing my fourth flush rigt now of my three in flower stupid plants have a mind of there own ... lolol
