I don't know when to harvest [Pics & Info]
permalink

I have 3 plants, and they are definately all developing at different times.

2 of them still need a couple weeks, and are still almost 100% white pistils and cloudy trichromes...haven't noticed any amber on them, and even then like i said their all white pistils.

Now this one plant really does look like its getting close to harvest. At least the top buds. An even then one of the buds looks more ready than the others.

Now each of the very top 3 buds have probably ~50% white hairs, and the rest are turned red. I also (with my 10 dollar radio shack microscope) can see a "few" amber trichromes on each of the top buds but not alot.

Should I wait about another week? Its been close to 2 weeks since I stopped fertilizing, so another week would definately make sure it was all cleared out.

Also what harvesting method would you recommend? Should I water once more today and then just refuse this one plant water untill actual harvest time letting it wilt a bit (This increases resin output to the buds I believe i read?)

Also since the bottom of the plant isn't ready yet at all...should i just ignore this, wait till next week and harvest the top half?

I read the harvest guide but I didn't find it to detailed. Maybe I missed a section?

Also I have heard of people flushing their plants before harvest? If i should do this when?

Thanks.

Here are the pics... The first 3 are the top buds and the last photo is a Bud a little lower that probably needs another week or so.

btw thanks alot all.

Get the best magnifying glass/scope you can get and look at the trichs they stand out on, all over the bud and sugar leaf and are like very very small little hairs litarally thousands of them coating the entire bud area (not to be confused with pistil hairs) They are much smaller and cover the pistil 's as well. They start out clear, go milky white, and finally red. When they are about thirty or so percent milky white the plant is ready for harvest. Some people have different preferences as when to harvest using this method as that the final product will result in diffrent highs with varying levels of maturity so taking small
samples may be required to find the level of maturity which best suits your needs or tastes according to the strain your testing.
With the many diffrents strain, mediums, lighting wattage, type, cycle options etc.,etc. a lifetime could be spent developing your perfect smoke, however if you limit the variables and the strain one may achieve mastery over the strain of their choice with consistancy.
For pics and more info on the subject use the search feature link in the lower left of this post and do a search on Trichomes.

Flush two weeks prior to harvest to wash away salt nute build up and improve taste, also helps if you recycle soil. You'll be alright flushing a week before harvest if you have already ceased using nutes a week ago just flush well allow medium to go dry and try to lower humidity while doing so it as it encourages crystalization.
Best o Wishes!

Well they are mostly all milky white now, a few clear, and a few amber.

Just the top buds though, So I guess I will flush the one plant today, harvest the top buds this weekend, and then let the lower ones continue to mature.

This is my third year trying and I have all Sinsi with no males at all. Only six plants left but I am not sure about harvest time and I don't know how to put a picture in this post. had our second frost in 2 days today.

Could someone explain how to add picture. Have some awesome bugs that mimic the red hairs and attack invaders. Plus I have a skunk doing guard duty.
