I've tried orange peel before and it isn't as good as lemon peel. It just doesn't have as much oil content as the outer yellow layer of lemon peel. The lemon smell carries into the buds much better in my experience. Only use the thin yellow layer of the peel though. The white part has no smell and will eventually give the buds a moldy smell.

Role the lemon on a table, whilst exerting some down force with your hand. Squashing whilst rolling. This breaks some of the smelly oils free from inside the peel. Then take a small sharp knife and strip the thin yellow layer away from the rest of the fruit. Or you can strip the yellow layer first and then pound it briefly with a hammer.

Nice idea about the bubblegum by the way. Maybe you get to eat bud flavoured bubblegum afterwards. LOL.

I haven't used cirtis for curinig but I cook a lot and have an idea.

If you take a peice if citrus peel and bend it you can see the light mist of vital oils come spraying out of the pours. Kind of cool.
I imagine you could just hold some of these peels over your curing bud and give them a spray. No worry about the pith (white rind) getting anything moldy, just the vital oils gently misted over your buds.

Good idea?

Howdy!

I think that's a great idea. But beware...don't smoke cigarettes while you are squeezing that rind...the teensie little oil bits spraying from that rind are highly inflammable! If you hold a lighter (lit) in front of the stream of oil bits spitting out of that rind, you'll see little flashes of light like a miniature flame-thrower. Not to worry...it doesn't burst into flame and ignite your hand or anything. But I wouldn't want to have any sort of concentration of that mist around my face with a ciggie hanging out of my mouth at the same moment. Just a word to the wise, my friend.

Good luck and I would looove to hear how that works out!

Remember that most cigar boxes are constructed from Spanish Cedar which is a heavy aromatic wood.
Cigars are stored in the cedar usually to take on a more earthy cedary tone.
I wouldn't cure anything fruity in the cedar, it may take on somewhat of a woodsy taste.
