Cool Tastes like Chlorophyll?
permalink

Hello

I am new here.

When I first start see my first brown hairs, I stop using fertilizer. I run straight water for the next week or two till the plants are ready to be cut down.

I manicure the buds the best I can. Then let the buds dry on a screen for 5-10 days. Problem is the smoke tastes like CRAP! It tastes like Chlorophyll. What am I doing wrong?

hi asders.

by the chlorophyll taste i assume you mean that horrid minty taste?

i havnt had this problem personally but i remember reading a while back that drying/curing for longer and putting your buds in the refrigerator can help with this problem.

i have no idea of the actual cause though...maybe too much N during flowering? flush a bit more before harvest?

either way that would be a bummer after all that hard work...sorry couldnt be more help but there are heaps of knowledgeable people here who will be able to help out more im sure.

good luck.

i would think smoking most anything after only 5-10 days of drying would be harsh and taste shitty. after they dry for 5-10 days do you put them in glass jars...burp them daily for 30 days and then let cure for another at least 30 days? i notice a huge difference in taste after a good cure.

The answer is CURING. I've had the same problem on my first grow. I let the bud's dry for a week and then just started smokin all the weed. All of it had a grassy/chlorophyll taste to it. 2nd grow, let the bud dry for a week, then instead of smoking them right away, I cured them in a glass jar for 4 weeks, then smoked ----> HUGE difference. The weed was smoother, the weed was tastier, and dankier. From that point on, when I harvest my plant, I still assume that the buds won't be ready for another 4-5 weeks because curing is a must. My goodluck.
