| I've read that the form of THC in cannabis must be heated to activate it to the psychoactive form. Is this true? If someone makes a tincture in 95% ethyl alcohol using a no heat method, like letting it sit for a couple of weeks in the alcohol in the dark to extract, would it be psychoactive without being exposed to some heat? Or would one need to heat it to a certain temp to "activate" it? If so, what temp would this be? Thanks be to anyone who can shed light on this question. Peace | ||

WOW, that first link was a knock down and drag out!!! Well, I'm still a little confused. Even though raw weed smells wonderful, I don't know if I'd want to down it like that. I would think that if you didn't heat it to excess not too much THC would degrade. All I was wanting to know was if I had to heat it to get a high at all. I haven't done this yet so I guess a little experimentation is in order. ![]() That's fine with me cuz I always have liked to discover things on my own. Well, thanx anyway. growon.....out.....

![]() | Sorry I guess the heat thing was kind of lost in the raw vs cooked shibang but what I was getting at was no heat still works fine. I think it was deadhead who asked "what does activate mean when heating?", nobody responded because chemically speaking you don't do anything to the THC apart from combust it for easier consumption. The only reactions I know of are THC will form CBD and CBN with the reaction being driven by UV light or a slow oxidation process which can be speeded up with heat addition or the opposite where an acid is used to form THC from other cannabinoids present in solution. Your tincture will work fine as is, if you did warm it you might feel the onset of effects a bit quicker but thats all. Phantom Ghost Who Smokes
