Hello Nigel
permalink

Try this with your uncured harvest or trim material, Mid-Grade street weed.
Water curing by placing material into a tub of water and holding it under, soak for 3 days changing the water each day,(use de-chlorinated water)
Dry thoroughly and then extract the Oil.
You will loose 25% of weight and increase THC 50%,not a bad trade off.
So this is where RS's statement of requiring more Mid-Grade to make a cure comes in.
The best medical grades I've come across in the seed banks range from 18%- 25% THC
If a Mid Grade is around 12%-15% THC this process would make it 18%- 22%THC
And just think what a good Medical Grade could become...
This will also wash out all the garbage from fertilizers/pesticides,along with the Chlorophyll.
Hope this helps
Peace

About Trim oil aka Shake oil
permalink

I've just had a long discussion about SHAKE OIL with RS a couple weeks ago. I was treating a patient with some and he was responding to it, But I wasn't sure if it was the oil or placebo effect. If some one is expecting a cure they just might give them self one without actual treatment.I would never participate in a BLIND STUDY. I don't believe in blind studies when lives are at stake. After my discussion with RS, I actually think it's a bit of both. He says the Shake Oil doesn't contain the same properties as the BUD OIL.
It tends to be high in chlorophyll giving it a horrible taste,He admits it does contain THC but it's a weaker grade than what is needed to cure cancer internally.
But he also admits it's a wonderful by-product of the plant and should be used topically.
It may take a few applications, but the results will be the same; GONE...
Peace

Johnny, Since you have some experience with making this oil, do you know of any strains that produce MORE oil than others? Would a Hash Plant produce more oil-since it looks so much more gummy-er than other strains?

yes, some strains are more suitable for hash making or oil producing. they are not necessarily the most potent strains. what makes some better then others depends on things like thc gland sizes, and numbers of glands on the plant matter. the strain: big bud for example, is a good strain for hash making, it tends to make a lot of it. other strains tend not to produce so much, but might be more potent, but not as efficient either.

I've only ever used 99% alcohol to make oil..when i have made it . Solvents are not the cleanest way to extract cannabinoids. I think if i ever attempt to make future extracts it will have to be ice water extraction..

The purpose of making extract is to have purer more potent product. In the case of extracts made with solvents are IMO contaminated smoking products.

here is an excellent book, for people that are interested in the finer points of hash/oil production. in it, he explains the use of solvents, vs any other type of extraction.
