lou I have no idea how the extraction works - it just does.



analog 1. It takes about 45 seconds to empty a can to where it is no longer dripping through the tube.

2. One can per rocket.

3. I let the pan sit outside until the liquid butane has boiled off. For example, I made some when it cooled down the other evening & it had to sit outside longer than some I had made the previous afternoon in the heat of the day. Usually 15 to 20 minutes.

4. Very little smell. You can smell the butane if you stick your nose down to the pan while doing the extraction.


arkady2300 I have though about putting coffee filters inside of each screen, but I don't really care to get it more honey in color.
I have been doing an extraction daily for over a week (there's oil everywhere) and eating it for an experiment.

I find bubble easier to handle than oil, but the oil is more potent. Granted, I've only used trim to make bubble and I use buds to make oil.

I used to make BHO out of trim or a collection of stems, the result was always so so. I recently started using the best buds i could find...and whoa.

This stuff will kick your ass.

Butane is a solvent, thats why it works. This is also probably the easiest and quickest way to make hash. The best is when you first put the can of butane in and the liquid comes out gold. Powdered up weed will make it kind of green, but fresh weed also makes it come out dark. You want to grind up your stuff maybe a day in advance, let it get crunchy dry.

And how about the smell of it??? Mine smells like skunky lemons. I used 5 grams of flame AK47 buds and i have a big wad of goo.

Sometimes i mix it with kiff, it will make it look and feel like silly putty. Its so nice i have to go smoke some. Oh it'll make you want to cough with its delicious taste.

This looks like a pretty nice little set-up, but does anyone know of any others that they would recommend? I've seen videos with a much larger glass tube that took several cans to run through, and this looks more efficient, but just curious what you all think the best system is...

to previous poster-glass seems like it will work better ( may work good on smaller runs - less then 15 g's) but due to how cold it will get when running butane through it it could break and thats not good when your messing with butane

I am sure that you have all heard the warning before, but..... BE VERY CAREFUL when injecting butane into a pipe. You are in effect making a pipe bomb. Most people know not to smoke or have open flame near them, but from personal experience static electricity will indeed set it off. I was very very lucky that only my hair got burnt. Butane is very combustible.

I always make sure and ground myself before I run a can of butane.

as far as i understand it, the BHO method is basically a dual solvent extraction involving 2 solvents... butane and hypercritical CO2...
and the force involved with extremely high pressure and low temperature is more of a surface stripping of trichomes than extraction of glands within the plant material

It's an experiment, related to my diabetes.

I ingested BHO for 30 days before my previous blood test and my A1c was 5.6% which is normal for a non-diabetic. I got my blood drawn again last week and Friday will find out the results of the A1c test.

The question being, is my smoking enough to keep the A1c low, or do I need to ingest BHO too?
