OK I've searched, and found little info on this here, so maybe someone can clear this up and put poor Raul's worries to rest...

I've read about a technique to make hash oil, in which the end result is "Honey" oil, supposedly more potent and smoother...

Here's the technique:

Take PVC piping, from six inches to a foot and 1"-2" wide, depending on the amount of plant material you want to stuff in there, and buy two end caps for it...

On one end cap, drill (poke) some small holes like a pepper shaker, place a filter (cloth or metal, coffee wouldn't seem to do it) in there too,on the other drill (poke) a hole in the center, which fits the end of a...

bottle of butane, 6oz or more (again, depending on amount of junk). Place the pipe, filled with junk, pepper-side down over a jar or recepticle. Now get into the clear wide open and for gods sake don't light a cigarette. Empty Mr. Butane into the pipe, as full as it gets. The oil should drip out the other end into said recepticle, all reading I've read said a few minutes to a half an hour.

This seems to have merit. THC is alchohol-soluable, butane is alchohol (or alchohol-like, Raul is no chemist). In other oil techniques, heated oil makes for quicker and beter extraction, and butane boils at room temperature. End result: boiling your stuff in alchohol without heat.

Problems I forsee: When butane boils, it may boil hard and overflow recipticle. Also note Raul would be making big pipe bomb. As long as I don't smoke or decide to cook while extracting, I may even be able to do this in my spare room (good ventilation).

Advantages I forsee: Simple and quick. Also no worries of residue like with rubbing alchohol (remember Big Brother puts stuff in there to make you sick if you drink it). One letter of experience says oil is pure, and may cause extreme munchies and forgetfulness, accompanied by fits of giggles.

Any input here would be great, experience priceless. If I stop posting assume I have blown my hands off and can no longer type.

honey oil? and there's no honey in it! i didn't learn that until just now and i've made it!!!
... i just decided to forget the honey and soak joints in it.

yes raul, a big pipe bomb, that's what it is - pretty scary.
so instead i did it the alcohol way,
-i soaked chopped up pieces of trimming in Everclear alcohol -(liquor store-180 proof)
-waited a few hours,
-stirred occasionally, strained it through a paper coffee filter(biggest gauge possible),
then boiled the alcohol in a pot inside a larger pot filled with water. (a double boiler, on an electric stove.) that alcohol is nearly pure!
-poured it out when it got thick, let the rest evaporate...
it's dark goo...
good stuff tho'

-oh yea and if you want to be able to do it in the room you were talking about. you can just pour the alcohol mix on trays and let it evaporate naturally (or with a fan on it)

Ok I've tried the rubbing alcohol extraction and then boiled it, (be careful, it will catch fire) and it still taste like alcohol so I tried again and then when I was ready to get the alcohol out I decided to let it evaporate out instead of boilking it and let me tell you this, I didnt once get the taste of alcohol and it was great I guess using the kind of alcohol LFD said would better so try both ways


Hey LFD, I noticed tou said you only let it sit a couple hours. Try puttin it a mason jar and seal it air tight and sit it in the dark, then after 4-5 days, put it in something a little flatter( so you can scrape it out when it evaporates) and sit it in the sun. Rubbing alcohol evaporates VERY quickly and by the next morning it was completely gone Its not gonna completely evaporate, its still gonna be a little liquidy. Try it man and let me know what you think. I used leaves off of a male and it was gooood

yea, the everclear leaves little to no aftertaste
the sun doesnt mess with the THC? maybe i could just put a fan on it...

Raul tried the pipe-butane method today. You know what Raul got? A f*cking pipe full of frozen weed. Whoopie!

Maybe I did something wrong, but the instructions weren't that hard- take pipe, fill with leaves, empty butane and let sit- the butane came right out, leaving no residue. Now the weed smells funny. I wonder if there's ant THC left in it? perhaps my bottom-end holes were too big.

Maybe I'll try the rubbing alchohol thing. The problem is, I wanted this shiznit for tonight, big homecoming for my college, bragged it up to my buddies, now I'm stuck with no oil. One more can of butane, and maybe some smaller holes, then I'll just soak it in rubbing alchohol.

Good news is I still have my hands.

Do you use dried or green leaves?
I'm going to wait till I have a whole bunch of dried trimmings and leaves and just make hash. No open fields close by and I am too much of a wuss for making rockets!
Smoked the honey oil back in the late '70's/early '80's and found it to be a hassle.
Hey Raul, I use to live out there years ago in Yucca. On the east coast now and it took years to stop missin the desert!

Just put a piece of foil over holes, (makes them smaller), soak weed in rub. alchohol, THEN retry butane. Try before you type, always a good rule. He has some now, he's waiting for evaporation. (It's greenish gold. Hooray!)
