Pollen?
permalink

Hello! My plants are flowering! (I am excited, this is my first grow) Because this is my first grow, I just wanted to see what male plants did when they matured so I moved them into another room from my four ladies as soon as I was sure of their sex. Well, they are kinda cool to look at. The little balls open up into a little flower and there are sacs that hang down and give off mad pollen. If I rub with my finger it is covered with it. I was wondering if there is THC in this pollen or the male flowers? Can I use these pollen filled plants to make butter? Or should I only use the leaves? I wasn't thinking of smoking the males because I have heard they taste like crap, but I would give it a shot if it would give me a good high. Or should I just throw the males away and wait until my ladies have enough red hairs to harvest? I really would like to try some canabutter though.. Thanks for any info!

About that pollen, do you think if I collected some of it in a little spoon or something and put it on one small female bud I could get a bunch of seeds from that one bud without infecting the rest of my ladies?

Chop those puppies up, and do something with 'em. After all, you took the time to grow them. Here's a couple of things to do.

BUDDER: Put a half pound of butter in boiling water along with 1 -1 1/2 oz. of plant (leaves, stems, whatever). Simmer for at least an hour, then strain out the plant material. Let the pot sit for a day or so, and then just break up the budder on top and remove it.

OIL: Get the strongest alcohol you can (like Everclear, something like 180 proof) and cover your cut up plant with it, so the pieces are just floating. Keep this airtight and in the dark for about 5 days, shaking it every day. After, strain out the plant material, and let the juice sit out for a day or two so the alcohol evaporates. Then smoke the oil!!!

There are other things to do, just look around this forum.

sorry, one more question

could i use rubbing alcohol, as long as i evaporate the alcohol i don't see a problem. the reason is, i'm a poor college kid, and everclear costs more money.

thanks

Welcome to my world, my friend. I'm also a poor student. I've never let a male plant grow past when I first saw it was male, but I'd have to say don't include the pollen sacs. And yes, you can use rubbing alcohol, but get the 99% Isopropyl stuff.
