Tonight I discovered that my largest plant is very male. This is my first grow and I really want to use him for whatever I can. I would like to collect his resin, but I don't know how. Can I boil him or chop him up or something? What's the best way to make the most of a male plant?

Sorry to point this out males do not have resin that is female thing it is where the seeds are made,I think you must mean the THC you could always try the butane gas method

Cannabinoids (THC and others) are made up of resin, resin is made up of cannabinoids. Males just have less resin glands, smaller resin glands, and smaller flowers. You can pinch the flowers off and smoke them, as well as leaves if you can stand it.

Making hash with one male might leave you disappointed.

I think I was following the directions properly. It did not take long. I had everything prepped and ready. A couple of cans of butane from drug store, PVC pipe cut down with removeable caps, wide glass and large baggy of dried material from a he/she plant. Went to my shed and was finished in half an hour. Just held my hand under glass to make butane boil away.

I don't know why but my results were not too good. Had enough to smear on a couple of rolling papers and it was not the intense high I have had with oil I have bought. Was it my plants? Something I did or not do? Were my expectations to high? I can not say. I will try this again, just to make sure. I have made cannabutter too. Get a little buzz from it. Thinking of making a batch of Rice Krispy treats. I had one from a batch a couple of years ago. They looked gross but a half hour later
