![]() ![]() | Hey folks. Here is my attempt at butane extracted honey oil. I used: ====== 18g non-sinsemilla "junk herb", (seeds removed) 2x 6"x1" Black Nipple (Two 6 inch pieces of steel pipe, threaded.) 2x 1" Black End Cap (Two steel end caps.) 1x 1" Black Coupling (A black steel piece to join the two nipples.) 3x Colibri Butane (167g / 300ml) (3 cans) 1x Coffee Filter 1x Stainless Steel Bowl Copper Wire First off, I drilled the proper holes in my end caps. For the top end cap, a single hole with a 1/8" bit. This is there the butane will be inserted. On the bottom end cap, I drilled 8 holes of the same size; this is where the butane will drain. Then I cut my coffee filter to size, to fit in the end cap. The coffee filter goes at the bottom to stop your weed from going out the bottom holes. I assemble the pipe, topcap --> nipple --> coupling --> nipple --> coffeefilter --> bottomcap. I busted the herb up in my hands, into a fairly loose powder, and dropped it into the pipe. 18g filled it right up to the top, without packing it down. I kept it loose and there was decent airflow through the pipe. After filling, I capped it up and headed out to the woods. * Butane is bad to inhale and bad to light on fire. Don't do this indoors. Be careful. * I certainly wasn't planning on holding this thing over the bowl the whole time, no way! I brought some copper wire and wired the pipe to a tree. The wire held it tight in place, over top of the steel bowl. At this point, I dispensed the butane into the top of the pipe. I put most of the first can into the pipe before anything began to come out the bottom. It started hissing out butane and it was collecting in the bowl, and also evaporating quickly making a misty cloud of butane around the bowl. I put can after can through the pipe until the third can was nearly empty. There was an insane amount of butane hissing and bubbling and draining so I decided to keep my distance for a while. I came back every 10 to 15 minutes or so to check if it was done yet, and after half an hour, there as still a pool of butane in the steel bowl. The pipe had gotten frosted over, as well as the bottom of the bowl. I was worried that someone would come and ask what I was doing, so I decided to take it away from there. As I walked in the woods for the next 15 minutes, the rest of the butane evaporated from the bowl. There was a thin coating of yellow goo on most of the bowl surface. At home, I put a bit of isopropyl alcohol 99% in the bowl and dissolved the yellow goo into that, then put the iso. in a jar. The jar slowly evaporated on the coffee maker outside for a few hours, and I was left with a light brown / dark yellow goo, with a smell sort of like cannabudder. I put a drop of it on the end of a paper clip, and smoked it in my bong, and got completely ripped. Very little smoke and super potency! But I did not get very much of a yield at all. I would say that the yield of oil was about the equivalent of maybe 4 or 5 grams of kind herb, but in a much more compact form. I think that the butane did not have enough time to completely dissolve all of the THC out of the herb, and that the herb I used still has some of its THC left in it. I'm going to try an isopropyl alcohol extraction on that and see if i can get anything else out of it.
