Hash Oil 101 - 1st Attempt - Pics Inside
permalink

Well, this is my first attempt at making hash oil, but it seemed to work well, so I figured I would share. I will post my step by step instructions. Keep in mind I am no expert and this is my first time, so not only am I confident that this can be done better, I am hoping everyone who has done this can share any tips.

I made this batch of oil from four males. My next two pics are of two of the four males. The pics are actually about 2 weeks before they were harvested, but you will get the idea.

The plants were all 15"-18" tall and 15"-18" across.

Here's the first mail.

Male Flowering
permalink

I allowed these males to form some nice male buds. I pushed it to the limit, and killed them about 16 days into flowering. One of the pollen sacs opened. My females were just starting to form pistils, so I hope I didn't screw up my entire crop.

I smoked some of the male's bud. It was a very nice smoke. Tasted a little green, but I was stoned for about an hour. About as good as Mexican Dirt Weed.

Here is the pic of the actuall buds I clipped and saved. Keep in mind I only clipped the larger buds off.

Got a little ahead of myself.

Before I clipped those buds, I pulled the males, root and all, from the soil and hung them in my attic to dry for a week. They were still pretty green, they could have dried longer, but I am running low and needed to get going.

Here is a pic of two of the smaller males dried.

After drying, I removed the roots and broke my plants up into bite size chunks for my food processor. Here is the pile of plant mass before being chopped to bits.

Amazing what four large plants amount to when broken down

Food Processor
permalink

Next I took my chunks a little at a time and ran them through the food processor. Since the plant was still so green the larger stems did not grind up well. So I separated the ground up mass from the stems with a sifter.

Here is the pic of the final plant mass. Unfortunately, my plant mass seems to be shrinking!

Everclear

Next, leaving the fine ground mass at the bottom, I added the stems to the bowl, then added the Everclear. I put just enough to cover the plant mass. Used almost the entire 750ml bottle.

Here it is...

Let it soak

I covered it in aluminum foil and soaked for 48 hours. I stirred it about twice a day. Here is how dark the liquid gets after 2 days.

Strain
permalink

Next step I strained the liquid. I used my spoon to squeeze the plant mass as much as possible. I didn't really try too hard. I guess if I would have squeezed a lot and possibly soaked the plant mass with a little more Everclear I could have got more, but this was enough for the first try.

Here is the strained liquid. I have the glass bowl inside a big boiling pot (acting as a double boiler.)
