I just got a recipe from a friend if anyone is interested in making oil . It took me longer to break up the weed than to make the oil . The oil was a nice yellow in color , tasted great , and got me rocked !!! Anyways , the recipe calls for you to store your iso in the freezer , and only have the iso in contact with the BUD for only 15 seconds . My buddy that gave me the recipe does this to an OUNCE once per month, and he said he gets nearly 5 grams of oil in a vial from an OZ.

I missed this post lol ... I to use the same method . OK heres what i do ... I break up the pot and put it into a measuring cup . I then take the iso out of the freezer and pour enough into the measuring cup to saturate the pot . i leave it in there for a max of 15-20 seconds then i use a smaller measuring cup to strain the iso out into a coffee filter that falls into a mason jar . Then i take the iso and i put it into a stainless steel bowl . I then place the stainless steel bowl on top of a pot of boiling water . The key to this is to take it off the boiling water at the right time . IF you stick your nose in the stainless steel bowl and smell no more iso its complete . I done it enough to know when to take it by the look of it .

![]() | Right on VinShady!!! I also find ,by freezing the iso., the stone seems alot cleaner and not as couch lock . A lot of green oil seemed to wipe me out after smoking it , and a nap was in order, but gold oil lets me down alot easier..... And i know what you mean when you said you have to watch it when it is almost done evaporating , it happens pretty fast. Mainly i just put a small fan on it and open a window(always at night- because of smell) and it is done by morning.

Hey there people ..thanks for all the great posts I've read.. I have a question about using propane.. I live in Guatemala 1/2 of the year and most of the solvents that are talked about here are either very difficult to come by or plain expensive.. As I only pay 20-40 dollars a pound for my pot (Brown Mex style with lots o seed)I would hate to pay more than that for a simple few litres of solvent. (cheap bastard ehh) The thing is propane is widely available within blocks of home I am wondering if propane would dissolve completely or would leave any sulphur taste or other. Best Regards, El Pato

there is a chart somewhere, of all the available gases/solvents and its effectiveness in producing oil. from memory i believe propane is not a viable alternative, i will have to look for that list, as it explains there. i could be wrong, so unless someone else more experienced or knows, can tell you, i wouldn't use propane.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think propane has a lot of impurities you wouldn't want to smoke. I use CRC Quick Dry/No Residue electrical contact cleaner (hexanes), it says safe for use in food processing and meat packing plants, so I'm thinking that's as pure a product as you're going to find, without getting into pharmaceutical or food grade. ![]()
