![]() | All coments welcome, I've been reading up on how to make hash oil, and many of the ways i've found say put clippings in a filter and pour alcahol over it, well if you've read any about it you know the drill. My question is has anybody done this in a coffee maker? You know put a filter in it and run cycles of alcohol through it. The heat would help start the evaporation process or maybe the heat would be bad I don't know maybe you could disable the heat if this is a problem. All comments are welcome GROW SOME GOOD N'S

![]() | ummmmm....I don't think that mixing the heat coil in the coffee maker with alcohol is a very good idea. Good chance of an "accident" ya know! Using the filters is a good idea tho. ![]() cy ![]() | ||

You probably shouldnt heat up the the alcohol ina coffee maker, even if you do do it outside ,but if you doo it anyway you should think about at least plugging it into one of those grounded strip outlets with the built in circut breaker. just a thought good luck man and BE CAREFUL! SPAMMAN

![]() | SHAD, just wanted to say that i read an article about making oil and the way im gonna do it at harvest is to chop up the weed and instead of running the alcohol over and through it im gonna just soak it in the alcohol directly overnight. this way im a little more sure im not wasting any prescios thc. Then you just filter out the weed ,and the article said to use one of those dust masks as a filter, cause its more sturdy than a coffee filter its cheap and its already cupped shaped so you coulg just set it down into a glass.Spamman let us know how it comes out either way

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Shadrax, The idea is sound, but I don't think most over-the-counter coffe maker's would stand up to this use. Also, if you disconnect the heat pad ther is nothing to make the liquid percolate up through the filter. Using the basket from it and hand pressing is another issue. ![]() Remember when doing extraction the purity of the original components will be magnified in the finished product. By alcohol everyone is referring to pure grain alcohol, or mineral spirits. Acetone is also acceptible. Both of these chemicals are extremely flamable. Always ensure safety first. I've had too many good friends get hurt in "lab" accidents to not care. The easiest way that I have found is to go with a long term approach. I like using quart or gallon glass jars with a tight lid. Fill the container with dried materials. Whether this be buds, leaves, or trimmings the idea is to get as much as you can in there. I recommend using dried material because the moisture in fresh clippings tends to cause negative results. Once the container is "full", pour in the alcohol or acetone. wait four or five minutes for any trapped air to escape and top it off. Seal tightly and shake vigourously for 5-10 minutes. The next step is up to personal choice. I tend to let mine sit for a week, shaking at least 3 times a day. You can go longer or shorter on the time, shake more or less. Experiment and see what works for you. Coffee filters, dust masks and such work fine. Just be careful that you don't rip it at all or you'll get bad product or have to strain it again. I like to use medical cone papers. They come in several grades so you can do a double purifying step easily. One member suggests a coffee filter or two in a coffee pot basket. (that's the plastic part the filter goes in.) Then using a can or other object of roughly the same size he presses the material. He also recommends keeping the top, gooey green lip of the filter for a treat. Mostly from my medical training and pure laziness I like to let them gravity filter. Sometimes it takes a while. Once you have filtered out all of the plant material let the resultant liquid sit in a airy room to evaporate. Remember again that this stuff is highly volatile and will explode with a single spark. Light switches spark when flipped, etc. Ventilation is key. As it evaporates you will see the dissolved goo start to congeal. I use a plastic spatula to keep it together if it's not collecting naturally. After it's to the point of playdough it's pretty safe, but I like to let mine sit for 24 hours just to make sure all of the chemical has evaporated. Pinch a peice and throw it in the bowl. Um yum. Smiles, BD ![]()
