We used an number of resources from here as well as the internet in general to do our pilot run making cold water hash. It's a bit of work, but one can easily do it with things you find around the house, so we thought we'd give it a try. We have a couple of ounces of some primo sensi we'd like to turn into hash, but we decided we should first start with some stuff that wasn't quite as valuable. Here's what we started with -- somewhat over a half ounce of the manicuring trim with lots of trich's and the popcorn buds from our last harvest.

We tossed the goodies onto a tray and picked out the obvious stems. Then we pulverized the stuff in the food processor.

We put the pot powder through a small flour sifter to filter out some the of the small stems and what-not. This is an old sifter we got from a grandma, so I suppose she'd be spinning in her grave if she knew what mischief it was up to.

| We put the finely ground pot powder into wide mouth jars and then filled them about 3/4 full with cold water and ice cubes. Then we shook the jars for several minutes, and let them set about a half hour. Anyone else old enough to remember Jello 1-2-3?

| We scooped the veggie matter off of the top of the jars and reserved it in a glass bowl. Then we transferred that into two more jars and vigorously shook them with ice water. The four jars went into the frig overnight. When we got up, this is what we had. At the bottom of the jars is the hash dust. At the top of the jar there is a mass of veggie matter. Between the two is some brown water with a few bits of leaf floating around.

| We skimmed the green stuff off the top, then used a syringe to siphon off most of the water. We carefully used a paper towel to wipe most of the leafy material that stuck to the insides of the jars, then poured what was left into a coffee filter to drain. When most of the water was drained, we carefully folded up the filters and squoze them to drain the last of the water. After that we opened up the filters and set them out to dry.

We're pretty happy with the results  considering this is our first go at this.By commercial standards this would be really crappy stuff, but it's easy to see that all we have to do is process the stuff more to get the green leafy matter all the way out. But you can definitely see brown hashish amongst the green, though.  Lessons Learned 1) We should have repeated the process of shaking with ice water and skimming the scum at least one more time. 2) The large mouth canning jars were EXCELLENT for the shaking process, but we could've used a wider vessel when siphoning off the top layer. OTOH, we tried using something like a pie tin to settle the hash powder in, and that was TOO wide. 3) Using ice ensured the water kept cold, and the abrasion can't hurt the process of knocking off the trich's. However, we used cubes, and roughly crushed ice might have been better.
