Some of the netpots are in. You can see how it fits together. We still haven't added the pieces we use for training, yet.

For Training...

The second picture I posted shows this pretty well (http://www.hempcultivation.com/420/a...&postid=255888).

We used shelf mounts (metal) from the hardware store. The ones that only have one eye instead of the thicker ones with two. They are convenient for tying small guage wire.

The only problem we've had with this system is that it's difficult to get around. It's the right size that if you had a good sized room with a bit of walk space around it training would be fairly straightforward. In the closet it got difficult to reach the back corner.

Great constructiveness

Remember you cant grow plants very big in that system - it was primarily designed for small rootball plants such as lettuce, cabbage, strawberries etc

You could however flower some very nice buds in that using clones .. Keeps everything short and fat. Just grow a few mother plants and cut clones every flower cycle

Sure, but....

Agreed in principle that the purpose of such a system is to grow a bunch of smaller clones, the system has no problem supporting a large plant.

Here's a picture of the setup right at 4 weeks into flowering. The plant was vegged for about 4 weeks because other plants weren't keeping up with it.

This is only one plant.

I added some explanation to where the sprayer section is. If you tell me what you need to know about it perhaps I can adjust my explanation so it makes sense. What I posted was directed more by what photos I had than anything. It's been about 2 months since we built it, so memory of what imporant details I might point out sometimes escapes me.

I've posted all I have for the moment. If you have questions you want answered, let me know and I'll try to provide answers.

thats only 1 plant?

Well i spose if you only used some of the slots for growing you could grow rather large plants ..

But their primary design and function is for small root structure plants, Their main use is mass production of Lettuce and strawberries.

Theres no way u could grow full grown plants in each slot

there simply wouldnt be enough room

But none the less its a nice system for DIY

For my next system
permalink

I was planning on re-designing it for the smaller amount of space I'm working with using 10 gallon buckets. Here's the idea I have at the moment. Let me know what you think -

I would use one bucket per plant, arranged like this.

X X R X

That's for 6 plants and a "reservoir" bucket. This bucket would contain the pump and be a control bucket. It would be connected to all of the other buckets in two place. At the very bottom of each bucket I would drill a hole (probably 7/8" to use 1/2" PVC, possibly bigger). I would then use rubber grommets to create a tight seal, connecting the buckets so they become a shared reservoir (easily maintaining a good level of water at 30 gallons or so total, 5 per bucket. Perhaps less if I decide to have less buckets).

X---X -- X
X---X-R-X

I would use the lids of the buckets to hang net pots. Inside the buckets would be sprayers at the right level. Probably 3-4 per bucket on a ring of some sort made from 1/2" PVC. This ring would be connected through pvc to other similar rings in other buckets so that they can all run off one pump/reservoir.
The most important part of this that I see is that I can walk around the buckets inside the closet. Second is that the buckets have a huge amount of space for root support that still enables me to move plants around. The current design in PVC tubes makes it difficult to free roots in order to move plants if desired.

Such a bucket system also seems to reduce the stress the plants put on the entire unit. If you look at the picture of the whole plant you can see that the back tube has turned somewhat. It turns out that we didn't seal it well enough. Because of space constraints, now, we aren't really able to move it - it's been difficult to seal back up. We eventually got it worked out but *shrug*. Something to be aware of.

Hey Him,
How did you connect the sprayer to the PVC? I saw a kit that supplied a ‘punch’ for hole-ing the line (and even supplied ‘plugs’ for mistakes!)

It is probably self explanatory if I was to look at it but I haven’t seen the real thing. Even in the hydro store I go to they won’t let me take the things apart to see how they work.

I am looking in to a 2-4 hole grow tube with an always on drip line. I looked into the airoponics but couldn’t figger out the spray heads. Any Ideas?

I’ll say it a gain, Great Job On Building Your Grow Tube!!
