The sprayers that I got had two pieces. One was a round piece that screwed on to the unit they were built for. I threw this away. The other was the actual sprayer piece. This was threaded and supposed to screw into the round piece that I had thrown away.

I ended up with one piece sprayers that were threaded. Putting them into the PVC at this point is actually very easy. You need to get a set of drill bits and compare the size of the bit to the size of the tube where the threads are on the sprayer. This means taking a drill bit and putting it in front of the threads (lining the bit up with the tube). If you can see the threads around the edge of the bit and can barely see the edge of the tube the threads are connected to you probably have the right size.

Drill a hole in a scrap piece of PVC to test this. Try putting in the sprayer. If it doesn't fit, enlarge the hole (one bit bigger). You should be able to screw the sprayer in as long as you drilled straight.

you can also use a drill and tap set to thread the holes for the sprayers as well.

Hi Him:

You built a bigger version of what I've been using for a while.
Mine is a 6" tube, 24" long with a 7 gal. res.

Check out my grow journal. The link is below.
I've got 1 plant that is basically rootbound because the system just doesn't have enough room for a big plants roots.
I get great, high quality buds, they're just not that big.
Check out how I built mine. The links below.

Nice design Bro.

Your system looks great I want one! I was wondering what kind of pressure you get off those sprayers, is the pump powerful enough to give you good pressure? Also I didn’t quite understand how you drilled the holes for the net pots could you go over that again please? Anways thats a cool setup.

Yeh thats what i was saying Agent86, there just isnt enough volume for a significantly big rootmass.

As you can also see in the pic a few pics up, the roots are rather brown. Pure white roots are the signal of perfectly healthy plants

Oh yeah? Is that why my buds might seem very pretty but not so big?

I guess I assumed since the roots seem to have taken the room they need and continue to grow into the tub that they were ok.

I guess there's not much I can do about that this grow, eh?

Otherwise, I think the coloration comes from two things

1. HPS light affect on the camera shot - it tends to make things orange.

2. GH Nutrient solution (which is orange/brown/pink) which is pretty much covering the roots. Perhaps this is a problem with the system as the roots are always under running water rather than in air part of the time (so more or less a drip system I guess).

When you turn off the sprayers the roots look pretty white...

I don't know really how to measure the pressure. It still comes out in droplets but the spray is pretty hard. I think we will at some point upgrade the pump to a true aeroponics pump (that will atomize the nutrient solution) but we would have had to wait a week to get it before and already had seeds waiting....

Drilling the holes for the net pots is really simple - you need a 3" hole saw and a drill. The hole saw is basically a two piece drill bit. One is circular with saw edges on it, the second piece is the bit which goes through the center of the saw-piece and connects it to the drill. It makes nice clean circular cuts.

Maybe change the timing to get more o2 in there or add some H202 Peroxide to help whiten the roots..

You can see in that pic they are brown and thats not from the light or the nutrients. When the roots become brownish its a form of mold that coats the roots and this can stop them from absorbing the nutrients they need.

The system you have is awesome, Seriously though if i were using it, i would have 2 mother plants and growing clones in each slot. Clones have a much smaller rootmass and would be supported sufficiently. Not the mention SOG/COG yeilds are great and you only get big buds.

If you made a system like yours, but with big rectangular PVC instead of round you could probably support large plants, this would be something to look into aswell.
