Knore - you were definitely right about the limitations on plant size. It will support the plant, but it won't be the best environment.... Taking it out after harvesting and looking at the bottom of the plant and root structure it's obvious that it didn't have enough room - the plant even appears to have been getting strangled. The rootball is also constrained by the drains. I think this design is great for smaller plants, like you say, but not for such large plants as I've had in it. We're going to the new design next, which will support large plants.

![]() ![]() | HIM! you have inspired me . next week i will make a detailed plan and setout to make one of thies aeroponic systems. im going to grow SOG, which is shorter smaller and quicker then the triditional MJ cycle. You plans look good dude, and i gotta hand it to ya- your;ve done a good job at documenting it and posting it, top work. just a question though, do you have one of your systems side raised? so when your water flows it can drip out of the drain holes placed at the other end?

![]() | Good to hear ![]() As far as this system, we've moved on to a new one: http://www.hempcultivation.com/420/s...threadid=38300, but for growing scrog the system we just finished with should work wonderfully. As for tilting it, our original design had done that - then we realized that when the hole is on the bottom of the tube there's no need - water can't build up b/c it immediately drains out of one end. So the short of it is that you can lay it perfectly flat. If you're building a system like this I would try to get some 3/4" grommets for where the 1/2" pvc goes into the caps. If you use grommets you should solve our leaking problems (or if you use plumbers pvc epoxy putty before putting it in and running it - once you get it wet, good luck fixing drips).

Thanks for your answer. yeah i only had the angel on my mind, i forgot that the water would just naturaly push it to the drain, Which in my system , might actually have anoter pvc tube, going direct into the bucket..so there isnt any spillege:S i was going to start a new thred for this question , just wondering if you could answer it or just give me some opinions. im growing in a aero that will be 3footX2foot. 3 tubes, each probably 6inches? so that they can hold more root mass...and i was going to put the pots closer together, so although i only have 36Inches per pipe ( 3 of them ) i would still place 4 pots in each, leaving a 3inch gap between them . do u think it would work ? SeeAttachment ![]() Note: not to scale , i also have designed a better one, in like 1/8 scale. ill scan it and post it up later today. but heres the original 1.

![]() | Not so much the water pushing it as gravity... We started with a tube for the drain. Decided it wasn't worth the trouble and just made things more difficult. It's hard to attach a pvc in such a hole - you end up with more leakage. Why do you want to? To make it quieter? Nothing spills without tubes and it's fairly quiet. The 4" pipe should be fine for smaller plants... Other than that, the design looks good.

![]() | Hey, great setup Him. I also have an aeroponics setup and I get the same root browning that you do. I don't think increasing the amount of air time and decreasing the amount of watering time will help. You see, I used to have the watering cycle set to 5 minute air time and 1 1/2 minutes of watering time but the roots remained brown. I was told by fellow growers to keep the pump running all the time in order to increase water circulation thereby increasing aeration around the roots which I'm trying right now. I'd have to agree with Knore. This kind of setup is best with multiple smaller plants. I am currently doing a journal that illustrates this. I have a 3000 watt aeroponics stadium setup using 180 plants (has room for 200 though). Check it out under Grow Journals: 3000 watt "Pipe Dreams" Setup. (I don't mean to detract from your thread but I thought you guys might be interested in this since we're all discussing this anyways.) Again, very nice setup Him. cRAzY ![]()
