Ph always rising
permalink

I've been mixing a citric acid solution to lower Ph in a 2 liter bottle ebb and flow system, but every day Ph is back up to about 7.5 when I check it. I bring it down to about 5.0, but the next day it is back to about 7.5 or higher. I'm using lava rocks as a medium. What's the deal?

Hi Twinkalot,

it would seem that citric acid is a poor buffer in your nutes, get some Phosphoric Acid for Ph down, most hydro systems recomend it, should be far more stable increasing the size of the res may also help if it's a bit on the small side for the number or size of plants you're running.
