i've just got myself a NFT tank and with it came all the nutes, pump etc etc...but my problem is the ph test kit that came with it (liquid type) only works in the range of 6.0 to 7.6 after reading the grow bible is see that the recomended ph for veging is 5.5 and for flowering is 5.9 - 6.1.........do i need to buy a new test kit and if so what is the best type in the UK Last edited by purplehaze; 01-21-2002 at 12:17 PM..

![]() ![]() | Yeah, that test kit is useless for MJ. Jus pop down to ur local petshop or garden centre an pick up an aqarium testkit. theyre about a fiver, just over. theres liquid ones or tablet ones. havent tried the tab ones, but the aquatest one i use is widerange (5.0-10.0) an pretty good. not as accurate for small fluctuations, but good enough. within 0.25. id like to get a pH meter tho... coz u only get enough for about 20-30 tests. if uve got the cash -get a meter. ![]()

![]() | thanks for the help man!!! i thought the kit was no good i have just ordered a test kit from glasgrow...it is a wide range kit from 4 to 10 for £2.82 plus delivery... the only thing i'm worried about is that cause its a wide range kit will i still be able to get good accuracy for the ph will it read in steps of 0.2 .....ie. 5.8 and 6.0 etc....or will it just read a whole number ie ph5 ph6 etc thanks for the help purple Last edited by purplehaze; 01-22-2002 at 08:54 AM..

![]() ![]() | no worries. i guess with it bein widerange, an so cheap, it will be like mine... with colours for numbers goin up in points.so a colour for 5, 6, 7 etc.. but if uve a good eye u can work out from the colour chart pretty accurately within a quarter of the colour bar.. u dig? so u can estimate pH within 0.25 of a point. i mean, theyre ok for getting within the desired ranges. but if ur after number crunchin and accurate experimentation... like i say, get a meter. lemme know how it goes. peace
