How would I set up a float valve on ebb&flo?
permalink

I want to set up a couple ebb&flo tables, but I need to be able to auto top my reservoir with a float valve. I'm not sure how I can do that. When its in flood stage it would cause the float valve to fill the res back up, and then when the tables drain my res would overflow. I'm sure there is a simple solution to this, but I cant figure it out. Any Ideas?

I have ran my hose from my dehummy to my res and it pretty much keeps it level.

Taken from the Ask Lucas thread on Cannabis-world.org

> You recommend using a float valve to keep the rez full.
But any time the system is ebbing or flowing, the rez will aslo be flooding, eventually causing an overflow.

submerge the float valve to the depth the barrel drops to when the feeding cycle is on.. this can be done by using a long piece of stainless steel, so as to avoid drillling a hole thru the side of the barrel.. although, a hole thru the side of the barrel can also be used, as it will be sealed by the washer on the float valve mount..

or, feed RO water to a barrel with a float, that is not connected to the barrel that feeds the system.. the RO barrel is just to make water into, which is them moved with an aquarium pump, by hand, into the feed barrel, topping it up when it is not on an irrigation cycle..

To summarize this, you set the float valve at the minimum water level, it will top off to that lower point when the table floods and then it will be the right level again after the table drains back into the rez.

I actually havn't noticed a difference. Sometimes if the res is getting too full I collect the water in a 18 gallon tupperware bin and it doesn't get slimy or anything if I empty it every day.

I have a float in my E and F table and occasionally it would fill to the top, but either I caught it or it just didn't over flow. But that is a problem. Most decent float valves can be disassembled and the float reversed for a lower installation application. Your water pressure is also going to be somewhat important...if it's a trickle then it won't have time to fill f for the duration of your flood.

Oh, by the way mine works and makes it nice and easy on me.
